The launch of Grand Theft Auto VI is just months away, if there are no more delays, that is. However, with the release date fast approaching and pre-orders expected to go live in the upcoming months, fans are starting to worry how much they will have to fork out to be able to afford a copy of, what is now considered, the most anticipated video game release of all time. With standard AAA releases costing a minimum of $60 in recent years, many expect Grand Theft Auto VI to be the most expensive yet. However, a recent comment from Take-Two Interactive's CEO does give us a shred of hope.
GTA 6's Price Tag May Not Be Too Bad After All
According to Take-Two Interactive's Strauss Zelnick in an interview with The Game Business, Grand Theft Auto VI will launch at the "standard" price of $70-80. There is no denying that this is still a large amount of money, but with some fans believing that it could cost up to $100 for just the standard edition, this price is reassuring. Not only that, but Zelnick also confirmed that the game will not feature in-game advertisements, and whilst AI does help with development efficiency, human creativity still remains essential to game development, and AI would not be possible for creating a game on the same scope as Grand Theft Auto VI. Overall, a pretty reassuring update from the parent company of Rockstar Games.
Of course, we can expect Grand Theft Auto VI to also launch with 'deluxe' or 'premium' versions which will definitely rack up the cash, but it is good to know that for fans who just want the standard edition, one copy will not break the bank. However, what could break the bank is having to purchase a PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X/S console in order to be able to play it.
GTA 6 Will Still Be Expensive If You Haven't Got A New-Gen Console Yet
With Grand Theft Auto VI expected to launch on both the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S consoles, those who are yet to upgrade to next-gen consoles will also have another expense to pay for, especially as the Rockstar title is not expected to launch on PC anytime soon. However, if you are already a next-gen user, then all you have to do is wait until 19 November when Grand Theft Auto VI is finally expected to launch. There is no denying that it has been a long decade since the last Grand Theft Auto entry was released, but with Grand Theft Auto VI expected to be the greatest video game of all time, let us hope that the pressure has not got to Rockstar in the meantime.
