Now that all eight episodes of Wonder Man are streaming on Disney+, those who tune into the Phase 6 Marvel Cinematic Universe show may be surprised with its lack of a post-credits scene. Marvel Studios turned these stingers into a staple of its storytelling formula from the very beginning. Audiences have been conditioned to sit through MCU projects for bonus scenes that traditionally set up the future.
That's not what's happened here, as Wonder Man does not have a post-credits scene. By the time Wonder Man episode 8 ends, the adventures of Simon Williams (Yahya Abdul-Mateen II) and Trevor Slattery (Ben Kingsley) are over — at least for now. And as surprising as it might seem that the 2026 MCU show ignored credits scenes, the result really shouldn't be that surprising.
Wonder Man Follows An MCU Phase 6 Trend
The truth is that Marvel Studios has started moving away from using MCU post-credits scenes, especially with its TV shows. While The Fantastic Four: First Steps still had credits scenes, the MCU's other Phase 6 shows before Wonder Man — Eyes of Wakanda and Marvel Zombies — did not have any. Agatha All Along also did not have one in Phase 5.
Only time will tell if this has become the new standard for Marvel's TV shows. Daredevil: Born Again season 2, VisionQuest, and Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man are still on the docket for Phase 6. As Wonder Man proves, Marvel is clearly no longer unofficially mandating post-credits scenes for its releases.
But by not including one here, Wonder Man becomes the sixth Marvel Studios production without any credits scenes. The others not mentioned above are Avengers: Endgame and Werewolf by Night.
Wonder Man's Ending Still Sets Up His MCU Future
The lack of a Wonder Man post-credits scene may confound longtime fans, but the show still does its job of teasing Simon Williams' future without one. The finale concludes with Simon breaking Trevor out of the Department of Damage Control prison. He's mastered more of his powers by this point and flies them out of the building, allowing the actor duo to be freed up for more adventures down the road.
Even though there wasn't even a "Wonder Man will return" text at the end, Marvel Studios and series creator Daniel Destin Cretton leave the door wide open for the character to come back. The DODC will continue to pursue him, and with the organization returning in Cretton's next project, Spider-Man: Brand New Day, a connection to Simon could even come.
Whether he makes a cameo there or in Shang-Chi 2, pops up in Avengers: Doomsday or Avengers: Secret Wars, or stars in Wonder Man season 2, there are multiple opportunities for Simon to be a pivotal part of the MCU's future. Now it's just up to Marvel to figure out exactly what that will look like, and they can do so without worrying about paying off a Wonder Man post-credits scene.
