Apple TV has plenty of popular sci-fi hits, but one that emerged out of the shadows last year was Pluribus. The series was written and created by Vince Gilligan, and it stars Rhea Seehorn as Carol Sturka, a woman caught in a world overtaken by happiness who takes it upon herself to figure out what’s happening and save the world from all this dreadful bliss. Before the premiere of Pluribus, the most popular Apple TV sci-fi show of all time was Severance, but by the time Gilligan’s sci-fi series aired its Season 1 finale, it had taken the crown from the Ben Stiller creation. Apple TV has already renewed Pluribus for a second season, but it’s becoming increasingly obvious that the second season won’t begin streaming for a while.
For any writer to create a hit show like Pluribus, it would likely be the most important thing they’ve done in their career. This isn’t the case for Vince Gilligan, though, who is responsible for one of the greatest TV shows ever made. Gilligan is the lead writer and creator of Breaking Bad, the hit drama starring Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul that ran for five seasons between 2008 and 2013. The show was such a success that it warranted a spin-off around Bob Odenkirk’s character, Saul Goodman, which just wrapped up a few years ago. Although it’s been 13 years since Breaking Bad went off the air, the show is still one of the most popular watches on Netflix in several countries around the world. It’s a testament to Gilligan’s writing ability that he produced a show that’s so far outliving its life cycle.

When Does ‘Pluribus’ Season 2 Come Out?
It’s far too early to predict exactly when the second season of Pluribus will come out, but Vince Gilligan has been transparent that it won’t be anytime soon. During a recent interview, he confirmed that it will be nothing like The Pitt, which releases new seasons every year. Gilligan is hard at work writing Pluribus Season 2, but assuming he finishes sometime this year, the show will then have to set up a full production. It’s possible that Pluribus may not return to Apple TV until the end of 2027, maybe even 2028 if things take longer than expected.
