The wild TV series that was a real-life Truman Show is back - everything you need to know about Jury Duty's Company Retreat

It was the hit Amazon Prime show that gripped the nation and had everyone falling in love with the only star who was not an actor - Ronald Gladden.

Now Jury Duty is coming back for a second season but with a twist. Instead of a court room, the action will revolve around a company retreat and everyone involved will be an actor apart from the show's unknowing star 'Anthony'.

It is not yet known who exactly Anthony is but this week Gladden shared a teaser trailer for Jury Duty Presents: Company Retreat, that's set to start dropping on March 20.

Anthony is led to believe he is attending the annual retreat of the hot sauce company he's been hired to work for as a temp worker.

But like the original Jury Duty everyone there is an actor, apart from the main star, and the company does not exist.

Jury Duty took the US by storm when it debuted in 2023. Gladden believed he was just showing up for his court-ordered jury duty but instead the trial was fake and the judge and the rest of the jury members were actors.

One of the jurors was 27 Dresses alum James Marsden who played himself and was a standout star of the series as he leaned into his Hollywood life with some bizarre behavior and confided in Gladden.

Gladden is expected to make an appearance in Company Retreat.

In Jury Duty, everyone except Ronald Gladden (right) knew the trial was fake and had to keep that knowledge safe

Sharing the trailer on Thursday, Gladden cheekily wrote on Instagram: 'Before anyone tries to get information out of me, just know that I kept Jury Duty a secret for 14 months, even from my family, so you just gotta wait.'

Although Anthony doesn't appear on screen in the trailer, viewers can hear him say: 'If I go home and tell my parents about this stuff, they're going to be like: "You're lying."'

It is unclear if the rest of the original cast will be returning for the spinoff. Marsden will not be making an appearance on screen, but is executive producing the new season.

'Omgomgomgomg I'm freaking out this could not come SOONER!!!!!' one fan wrote on Facebook.

'FUN!' another said.

'I watched the first one [a] few years ago. It was a great experiment. I can't wait for the new season,' a third wrote.

Another said they'd have to renew their Prime account to watch the new season as the first one was 'fantastic.'

The documentary-style show was filmed last year in Agoura Hills, a suburb of Los Angeles, according to The Hollywood Reporter

There were 12 jurors in the show but the 11 pictured were all actors employed by filmmakers

Now, the showrunners are presenting a spinoff that follows a temp worker named Anthony, who attends a fake hot sauce company's annual retreat. A photo of the retreat that featured in the teaser for the new show

Not much has been revealed about the second series, but the retreat (pictured) was filmed in Agoura Hills

It is produced by a star squad of producers, including Marsden, The White Lotus' David Bernad, Lessons in Chemistry's Lee Eisenberg, The Office's Gene Stupnitsky, among others.

The show's second season could be a great jumping point for the mysterious Anthony, as it launched a career for the once-contractor Gladden.

Gladden pocketed a $100,000 prize for his participation in the Truman-style show.

Gladden then signed a two-year deal with Amazon MGM Studios in November. Company Retreat is his first show coming out under the contract.

The 1998 Truman Show centered on Truman Burbank played by Jim Carrey, an unsuspecting man whose entire life, since birth, has been the subject of a 24/7 reality TV show with everyone around him being an actor.

Jury Duty Presents: Company Retreat's first three episodes come out on March 20. Two more will air on March 27, and the final three will conclude on April 3.

The Daily Mail has reached out to Marsden and Gladden's representatives and Amazon for comment.
