Known as 'Cyberpunk 2077's' biggest fan, Angharad is a Welsh games writer who thrives in anything related to digital storytelling. If a video game explores the intricacies and horrors of womanhood, she is there.
Thanks to previous work at GAMINGbible, GameByte, The Loadout, Game Luster, Angharad has built a strong understanding of both the digital world and what fans want from it and is eager to share her thoughts and expertise with readers.
The wait for The Elder Scrolls VI continues, and with nothing more than various hints, fans are worried that we may not get our hands on the next Elder Scrolls installment before 2030. To make matters worse, it has been fifteen years since the last mainline entry, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, was released.
However, it is not all doom and gloom, as one dedicated fan has found a way to give us just a glimpse of what a modern day Elder Scrolls entry may look like, by heading back to none other than the land of Skyrim itself.
Created by Digital Dreams over on YouTube, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim has received the next-gen treatment courtesy of quite a few mods (over 3000 to be exact), and the RTX 5090. The results are mesmerizing and the beloved world of Skyrim has never looked better thanks to smooth performance, clear graphics, and photorealistic imagery. The 9-minute video gives us just a glimpse into the limits that Skyrim can be pushed to, and even more so, it gives us an idea of what Bethesda could be working with on development for The Elder Scrolls VI.
Featuring the familiar, lullaby-esque music of Skyrim, the video shows us some beloved locations as our Dragonborn makes their way through a new and improved world. Sunlight spills through the trees, creating shadows on the ground, and NPCs have never looked more detailed as they watch you past in silence. Vegetables on the nearby market stalls are vibrant and individually molded, and ice-capped mountains tower in the distance, creating a fog that soaks the world in its mist. Overall, the results are stunning, and it is hard to believe that this is The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim that we are looking at.
Skyrim Just Keeps On Giving
This creation courtesy of Digital Dreams just goes to show how much The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is capable of giving us to this day. With fifteen years under its belt, it is the modding community that has kept the Bethesda RPG going, with the vanilla version of the game rarely being played in 2026. By pushing the game to its limits, modders have made some incredible creations, and we can only imagine what they will be capable of following the launch of The Elder Scrolls VI. However, with the release date for the next The Elder Scrolls installment seemingly on the very distant horizon, who knows how soon this will be?
