There's absolutely no arguing that the anime medium hosts some of, if not the strongest, characters in fiction. Indeed, anime features beings who can destroy entire realities with absolutely zero effort. Take Zeno from Dragon Ball Super or Luffy with his newest Gear Five transformation, which allows him to change the physical matter of the world around him in the most recent season of One Piece.
There's quite literally no denying the power of reality-bending gods scattered across countless anime. The arguments and debates over who is the strongest seem to be never-ending, as new stories are consistently introduced to the medium, making it difficult to narrow down. But it is possible, even if a little subjective. These characters stand as some of the mightiest in their respective anime universes, and a battle between them would surely be a sight to be seen.
30 Ainz Ooal Gown
From 'Overlord' (2015–2022)
Isekai anime are commonly associated with power fantasies, mainly because they appeal to those wishing to escape and provide a sense of power and control. While fans can expect many Isekai characters on this list, one of them is Ainz Ooal Gown, the protagonist of Overlord.
Many characters on this list feature hax or broken abilities, but Ainz earns a spot through the magnitude and versatility of his powers. From genius tactics to unrivaled combat strength and a slew of magical abilities, he is one of the strongest Isekai anime characters. —Lucas Kloberdanz-Dyck
29 Anos Voldigoad
From 'The Misfit of Demon King Academy' (2020–2023)
Image via CrunchyrollFollowing Ainz from Overlord is another Character with striking similarities, as a former demon king and Isekai protagonist. Anos Voldigoad is the main character of The Misfit of Demon King Academy, which blends some nostalgic and power fantasy genres to create the ultimate escapism dream.
Thousands of years of experience separate the strong from the all-mighty, and that is why Anos Voldigoad is one of the most powerful. He is strong to a comedic extent, with too many spells and abilities that he keeps pulling out of thin air, from time manipulation to resurrection to absolute destruction. Anos was written with almost no weaknesses, making him more than worthy of being on this list. —Lucas Kloberdanz-Dyck
28 Featherine Augustus Aurora
From 'Umineko: When They Cry' (2009–2010)
Image via Studio DeenSome of these anime series may be quite obscure, as is the case with Umineko: When They Cry, which has a dedicated fan base but isn’t mainstream. Of this series’ many potent characters, Featherine Augustus Aurora is undoubtedly the strongest.
Featherine exists in a dimension beyond mere mortals, already separating her from the rest of the characters on this list. Even though she had a clear weakness, her immortality, reality manipulation, and invulnerability more than make up for that. Plus, her ability to rewrite the story is a feat not many characters can replicate, making her way too overpowered. —Lucas Kloberdanz-Dyck
27 Kami Tenchi
From 'Tenchi Muyo!' Franchise (1992–2021)
Image via AICTenchi Muyo was a '90s cult classic and an underappreciated show that divides casual anime fans from true anime fans. And the series’s strongest character is Kami Tenchi, the supreme being of the universe, essentially making it an all-powerful god that can do anything.
This list features a lot of god characters that are omnipotent, making it difficult to decide which god is more powerful than the others. However, when a character is as strong as Kami Tenchi, it makes them easy to rank. All of his abilities are incomprehensible to the human mind, and his destructive power is beyond hyperverse level. —Lucas Kloberdanz-Dyck
26 Wang Ling
From 'The Daily Life of the Immortal King' (2020–Present)
Image via Haoliners Animation LeagueThere are many words and names for a god, one of which could be an immortal king, such is the case with Wang Ling in The Daily Life of the Immortal King. The titular protagonist is the reincarnated king, allowing him to go about his daily life with the abilities of the strongest being in the universe.
Some of the strongest characters never stop getting more powerful, and in Wang Ling’s case, his potential is limitless, meaning he could theoretically take the number one spot. Even though he is lower, that doesn’t take away anything from this multiverse-level protagonist. —Lucas Kloberdanz-Dyck
25 Acnologia
From 'Fairy Tail' (2009–2018)
Image via A-1 PicturesFairy Tail is a polarizing show, mainly for its overuse of the power of friendship. Whether or not fans agree with its use is irrelevant when considering strength, and Acnologia is the strongest character in the series. He is one of two main antagonists in the series, always causing chaos and destruction wherever he goes.
Originally a human, he killed and ate so many dragons that he turned into the most powerful one, able to level continents on his own. There are many fantastic Fairy Tail arcs, and he was always a part of the best ones, showcasing his ferocious power. He defeated the entire main cast in an earlier arc, and only lost because of the power of friendship in a rushed final arc. —Lucas Kloberdanz-Dyck
24 Sinbad
From 'Magi: The Labyrinth of Magic' (2012–2013)
Image via Lay-DuceThere are many incredible fantasy anime, but one of the most unique series is Magi: The Labyrinth of Magic. Based on Arabian Nights, it follows Aladdin and Alibaba on a quest to become the true king. However, Sinbad is the fan-favorite and strongest character in the series, serving as a king candidate who was born with innate strength.
While fans can see more of his strength in the manga, including universal feats, he is still incredibly powerful in the anime, landing him on this list. His power allows him to see what the correct decisions are, leading him in the right direction and making it useful in a fight. Besides that, he conquered many dungeons, giving him multiple power boosts and ancient weapons. —Lucas Kloberdanz-Dyck

While there are many villains in the series, the final boss is the Anti-Spiral, a collection of the clan that became a humanoid shadow.
Like many characters on this list and in Gurren Lagann, the Anti-Spiral is a universal character, larger than entire galaxies, which it threw around in its final fight. Throwing galaxies aside, its cosmic strength and overall power would rival any anime character, making this a perfect over-the-top anime for fans to watch. —Lucas Kloberdanz-Dyck
