Taylor Kitsch is ready to return for the “Friday Night Lights” reboot. Well, sort of.
While discussing the reboot of the hit NBC drama on Sirius XM’s “The Spotlight with Jessica Shaw” (via ET), series star Kitsch said he’s “been asked” to come back for it. And although he remains open to returning to the field in some capacity, don’t expect him to stick around for more than “an episode.”
“I’m always flattered. Never say never. But I would come in and maybe do something for an episode,” Kitsch said. “I don’t want to go and do the whole thing. I’d go and have fun, but I don’t want to lead a ‘FNL’ or a reboot or anything.”
Kitsch went on to muse about what role he’d play if he decided to return for the reboot. He said he could return as the Dillon Panthers’ running back Tim Riggins or “create something” new for himself. Although he admitted the latter was not likely.
“I think if you saw me as someone else, you’d be like, ‘That’s Riggins,'” Kitsch said. “Especially in that element, if you’re in Texas or doing it the way they’re gonna do it. So yeah, I would maybe play an opposing team’s coach or something, and be on screen for like eight seconds. Yeah, I would do that.”
The “Friday Night Lights” reboot, announced back in November, is currently in development at NBCUniversal and will premiere on Peacock. The official logline for the show reads, “Following a devastating hurricane, a rag tag high school football team and their damaged, interim coach make an unlikely bid for a Texas High School State Championship becoming a beacon of light for their town.”
