This article contains spoilers for Running Point season 2's finale!

Running Point season 2 sees Isla Gordon (Kate Hudson) moving through her personal and professional life with more confidence than its predecessor, but the season's end leaves viewers with some major questions surrounding what's next for the LA Waves' President of Operations. While Running Point season 2, which is available now on Netflix, makes it clear that Isla and Jay Brown (Jay Ellis) aren't the main focus of the series, the spotlight shines on the pair with the steamy chemistry throughout its last episodes, which was exciting for those who have been hopeful about the show's ship setting sail.

Throughout Running Point season 1, the show established Isla without her romantic life being much of a piece of the puzzle. Happily engaged, it's clear throughout the season that Isla is more focused on her work and the difficulties thrown at her when she becomes the new President of the LA Waves than her love life. After Isla's difficulties with her fiancé Lev Levinson (Max Greenfield) finally came to an end during Running Point season 2, however, the show moved to greener pastures as Isla focused on work and found herself dipping her toes into something steamy with Jay.

While romance isn't the only thing that Running Point season 2 brought to the table, the majority of questions left unanswered as the LA Waves stretched themselves thin during the league championship center on what's next for Isla, Jay, and the entirety of the Waves organization after their tryst.

Isla & Jay Have A Steamy Series Of Hookups, But Things Aren't Left Clear

Running Point season 2's most interesting thread comes from Isla's love life. While her work with the Waves and her ability to bring her players together is still a strong suit of the character, the majority of the strides Isla takes have more to do with her personal life than her professional one, this year. After Running Point season 1 left viewers uncertain whether Isla and Lev would get back together, season 2 quickly offers a resolution. Lev, however, is clearly struggling a bit more with his commitment to Isla, even though their wedding is a matter of weeks away.

With the accelerated timeline, Isla and Lev go through some relationship difficulties throughout the early episodes of the season, and it seems like the pair are actually going to make it down the aisle even though Jay is always lurking around the corner. Jay, who moved to Boston to coach closer to his kids at the end of Running Point season 1, often pops up in Isla's dreams, and later, returns in her actual reality. When Jay gifts Isla a championship ring as her something borrowed, it's quickly clear she'll be calling things off with Lev.

Despite the end of her relationship, Isla and Jay don't find each other back in the same orbit right away. When they do, however, it's not long before they find themselves tangled up in something heated. With Jay the coach of Boston and Isla the President of the Waves, when the teams meet in the league finals, their tryst becomes far more competitive than either of them expect. While they don't fall into an actual relationship, the tease of one and its quick end makes the final moments of Running Point season 2 feel more impactful.

The LA Waves Win The League Championship, But Change Is On The Horizon

Speaking of the league championship, the LA Waves battle through a season of difficulties to find themselves poised for a win in the final round. While the first season of Running Point left things bittersweet, the Waves losing in the first round of the playoffs clearly made an impression on the team, who are geared up for battle as they make their way into the series against Boston. Running Point season 2 does show a fair bit of basketball, but skip through many of the games for the sake of the show's brevity, bringing viewers to Game 7 quickly.

Although Marcus Winfield (Toby Sandeman) spends somewhat less time pushing back on the operations throughout Running Point season 2, the superstar does injure himself early in the playoffs, leaving his team hanging as he goes off the grid after the team doctor makes it clear he can't play. When Marcus finally returns, having taken things into his own hands with an international cure for his injury, he's able to play on his leg and helps secure the Game 7 win for the Waves against Boston.

Running Point season 2 allows the Waves the chance to celebrate, but a moment between Marcus and Isla makes it clear that there's change coming for the Waves. After taking the winning shot, Marcus was seen wobbling on his bad leg, and after the game, shares that his injury is far worse than they originally thought. Winning one last championship, Marcus seems certain that his career is over. Isla tries to push back, but Marcus wants to celebrate the moment before he has to face the future. Running Point season 3, should it happen, will usher in a new era.

After A Season Of Villainy, Cam Pulls Jay In To Deliver A Serious Final Blow

Running Point season 2 welcomes Cam Gordon (Justin Theroux) back to the LA Waves' team after his time in rehab, and if his decision to return felt like a nefarious choice, every other decision he makes throughout the season is somehow even more dastardly. As the season unfolds, Cam tries to foil Isla left and right, making shifty deals with sponsors and friends to help him in personal ways with his drug use and professional ones otherwise. When trying to get his power back doesn't work the way he wants it to, though, he moves on to drastic measures.

At the tail end of the season, Cam is ousted after Isla makes a deliberate play for his power, undermining him after he tried to use a sponsor, Al Fleischman (Ken Marino), to secure a majority stake in the team, which would've given him absolute power. Knowing that he won't be able to remove Isla as President coming off a championship win, Cam moves forward with a new plan. It's announced that Cam and Al have worked together to buy a team that had previously moved out of LA, the Industry, and Jay, a part-owner, will be their head coach.

Isla, who's recovering from a post-win party with Ali (Brenda Song), Ness (Scott MacArthur), Sandy (Drew Tarver), and Jackie (Fabrizio Guido), discovers the news and is shocked to find out that her brother, former sponsor, and quasi-boyfriend have all banned together to create chaos. Despite Running Point season 2 offering a happy ending for the season, larger issues are looming should the series get the chance to continue.

Running Point season 2 is available to stream on Netflix.
