Ewan is Deputy Editor for ScreenRant's gaming section. He still quite hasn’t gotten out of his mid 00’s emo phase, and knows more about The Legend of Zelda and Doctor Who than is probably healthy.

Ewan oversees the content operation of ScreenRant's gaming output, working with a talented team of writers and editors to cover everything from the latest GTA 6 news to the indie games you need on your radar.

Former Editor of GAMINGbible, Ewan also has words at Kotaku, Den of Geek, NME, and UNILAD. He's appeared on various podcasts, including VGC's and BBC's Let's Talk About Tech.

I think we can all agree Marvel's Spider-Man is one of the all-time great superhero games. Just as the Arkham games truly understand Batman, Insomniac Games nailed what it means to be Spider-Man in its first outing with the webhead. Swinging through New York, shouldering great responsibility, and making awful jokes — it's the definitive Spider-Man experience.

If, for some bizarre reason, you've still yet to check out Marvel's Spider-Man and its sequels, consider this an important PSA: Marvel's Spider-Man Remastered is completely free to download and play if you have a PlayStation Plus Extra subscription, and it's well worth your time. For those that don't know, Marvel's Spider-Man Remastered is the souped-up PS5 version of the 2018 game, and it really is the best way to play.

Some of the new features introduced in Marvel's Spider-Man Remastered include:

  • DualSense haptic feedback
  • Faster loading times
  • Ray-traced reflections
  • 60fps Performance mode
  • Updated character models
  • Improved lighting
  • Enhanced resolution

If you don't have a PS5, the original Marvel's Spider-Man is also available via the PlayStation Plus Extra library, so don't worry about missing out.

While PlayStation Plus Extra games tend to cycle in and out, first-party games typically remain on the service, so I feel confident in saying you shouldn't really be in a huge rush to play this game if you have a hefty backlog to attend to. However, Marvel's Spider-Man is an absolute killer game, and with Spider-Man: Brand New Day on its way, there's no better time to flex your Spidery muscles and spin some webs (any size).

If you've already played Marvel's Spider-Man Remastered multiple times and would rather see what else is out there, we've still got you covered. There are loads of superhero games available on PlayStation Plus, including one or two hidden gems.

Marvel Rivals is one of the biggest free games around right now, and you don't actually PlayStation Plus for this one. PlayStation Plus Premium subscribers can also check out the first few hours of Marvel's Spider-Man 2 for free, but that's just a timed trial and not the whole game.

Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales is also free with PlayStation Plus, which is a great follow-up to Marvel's Spider-Man, and an essential experience before you jump into Marvel's Spider-Man 2.

Then there's Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy, which is a superhero game we don't talk about nearly enough. This game is like Mass Effect crossed with Uncharted, with some of the best writing in any superhero game you'll ever play. If, for some reason, you hate Spider-Man and everything he stands for, ditch the wall-crawler and play Guardians instead. You definitely won't regret it, trust me on that.
