Alan Ritchson is on top of the world right now thanks to his new Netflix action movie, War Machine. The film is the latest in a long line of military sci-fi epics like Edge of Tomorrow (Tom Cruise) and The Tomorrow War (Chris Pratt), but it takes a different approach to the Predator theory. While these other sci-fi movies rely on a terrifying alien, War Machine finds its primary antagonist in a large two-legged machine, leaving the mystery open-ended regarding what’s inside. Just in the last few years, Ritchson has also starred in several other big projects, like The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare, the WWII action epic from director Guy Ritchie. Late last year, he also headlined Prime Video’s straight-to-streaming action comedy, Playdate, with Kevin James. Ritchson is quietly becoming one of the biggest action stars in the world, but it’s all thanks to his role in Reacher.

Ritchson first suited up in the Prime Video original series inspired by the series of novels by Lee Child. Ritchson wasn’t the first to play the character in live-action, though. This honor belongs to Tom Cruise, who played the character in a pair of controversial action movies back in the 2010s. Cruise was not a fan-favorite choice, considering his statue does not match the character painted in Child’s novels. Prime Video settled on Ritchson to play the action hero in its hit series, which has aired three seasons already, with the fourth on the way this year. While fans wait in anticipation for the next season of Reacher, the show has charged back into the Prime Video global top 10 in more than 20 countries around the world.

What Else Is Streaming on Prime Video Right Now?

The most popular show on Prime Video at the time of writing is Scarpetta, the hit new series starring Nicole Kidman, Jamie Lee Curtis, and Bobby Cannavale. To reach the top spot, Scarpetta dethroned Young Sherlock, Guy Ritchie’s long-awaited return to the world of the famous British detective for the first time in more than 15 years. The biggest hit movie on Prime Video right now is The Bluff, the Pirates of the Caribbean alternative starring Karl Urban (The Boys) and Priyanka Chopra Jonas (Citadel). Afterburn is also climbing Prime Video watchlists right now.

Check out the first three seasons of Reacher on Prime Video and stay tuned to Collider for more updates on the series and coverage of Ritchson’s future projects.
