Kicking off Year Four of Disney Lorcana, Disney's popular trading card game (TCG) is back with Attack of the Vine! and the next chapter of the story for Illumineers and collectors alike. Things are heating up in the story while Monsters, Inc. characters make their debut and work to save the universe of Lorcana from whatever evil forces are causing trouble.
Back in Set 11, Disney Lorcana: Winterspell, Elsa had attempted to freeze the evil vine, but unfortunately, her efforts were fruitless, and now this invasive, dark, thorny vine is growing more than ever. The exciting and dangerous themes of the set are made even more fun by the use of title lettering and artwork that looks similar to that of a comic book, alongside the set's intense, vibrant colors.
Attack Of The Vine! Prerelease & Release Date Info
Disney Lorcana sets always have two release dates. First is a prerelease where people can purchase items from smaller, local game stores and Disney Parks. Then, generally a week later, there is a full global release where any location that carries Disney Lorcana products can sell items from the new set.
For Disney Lorcana: Attack of the Vine! the prerelease will take place on July 17, 2026. The full launch will then take place on July 24. The set features characters from Monsters, Inc. in its key artwork and includes the subtext, "100% Organic Panic" as a teaser for what to expect.
Confirmed Cards For Disney Lorcana: Attack Of The Vine!
As of the time of writing this article, not many cards have been revealed for the Attack of the Vine! set. All that we currently know is that the three main characters from Monsters, Inc. will be featured with the following cards:
- Boo, Energetic Child
- Mike Wazowski, Well-Rounded Entertainer
- Sulley, The New Boss
Looking closely at the key artwork design for Attack of the Vine! we can also spy the house from Up in the background, complete with its plethora of balloons holding it high in the sky, as well as the movie's famed zeppelin, "Spirit of Adventure." On the other side of the image, there appears to be the tower from Tangled.
Product Line-Up For Attack Of The Vine!
Attack of the Vine! will include all the standard products from Disney Lorcana sets. Booster packs with 12 cards per pack, Booster Boxes which will likely hold 24 booster packs (for a total of 288 cards), and an Illumineer's Trove are all seen in the product line artwork. Illumineer's Troves traditionally include a high-quality decorative box, damage-counter dice, tokens, and eight booster packs.
In addition to these products, the new Prerelease Box, which was introduced with the Wilds Unknown set, is also shown. These are special boxes that are only available at prerelease locations and have a limited number distributed. Prerelease Boxes include a special box, six booster packs, four dice, promo cards, and postcards.
The Disney Lorcana: Wilds Unknown set also introduced a special 2-Player Starter Set, which includes two themed decks with everything players need to start a game. Though it is likely that this will be an ongoing product for each set, it has not been announced for the Attack of the Vine! set yet.
The image of products also shows a playmat with the key artwork of Attack of the Vine!, a Lion King playmat, and a new foil treatment playmat featuring Hunny Wizard Pooh that will only be available for purchase from Disney Parks locations.
Set Rotation Changes At Attack Of The Vine! Launch
Custom image by Carrie LambertsenAttack of the Vine! will usher in the start of Year 4 for Disney Lorcana, which means more set rotations will take place as soon as this set is released. Set rotations only affect Core Constructed play events and are designed to help players continue to evolve their strategies and make the game more accessible for newer players to join.
This means that as of the release of Attack of the Vine! on July 17, cards from the four sets in Year 2 will no longer be accepted in Core Constructed competitive play, unless the cards have been reprinted in newer sets. Shimmering Skies, Azurite Sea, Archazia's Island, and Reign of Jafar sets will be banned in order to make way for Year 4's new expansion sets for Disney Lorcana.
