The Pikachu ex deck is one of the best Electric-decks in Pokémon TCG Pocket, and is still considered fairly strong in the meta even after the release of Mythical Island. There are a lot of cards that could work well in this deck, but the known deck is fairly set in stone at this point, and the second release didn’t change it very much. This deck requires a fair amount of strategy, as Electric-type decks can be quite vulnerable if you don’t play them correctly.
The best decks in Pokémon TCG Pocket usually have an ex Pokémon as their star. It is what the deck is built around and determines the strategy and what other cards are included in the deck. This deck has some weaknesses, and you should be careful to keep their Pokémon alive as well as possible.
Pikachu ex Deck Card List
Getting The Right Cards In The Deck
This deck is still quite similar to its original form in the first set. However, there are some variants in Mythical Island, and you can experiment with those variants if you want to. There is one that players have been consistently subbing in, and there is one I actually like using a bit better, depending on the circumstance.

For those who want some other suggestions, here are the other cards you could sub out:
- Blitzle/Zebstrika
- Magnemite/Magneton
- Voltorb/Electrode
- Raichu (Mythical Island)
- Blue
- Zapdos ex
Magnemite and Magneton are good options for those who want to take advantage of Lt. Surge and Raichu from Genetic Apex. This deck would focus on getting as much Energy on the bench as possible to transfer to Raichu for big plays. You could use X Speed to keep Raichu off the bench when it isn’t fully loaded up, allowing you to swap in a Pokemon to soak some damage and then swap them back and hit hard again.
Sabrina can also be used to keep your opponent from having their star Pokémon in the Active Spot and keep yours alive longer.
Voltorb and Electrode are a good free-to-play option to sub in for any of the cards you don’t have. Blue is also a potential survivability option, which allows you to minimize damage. Raichu is my personal favorite to sub in, as this version of Raichu allows you to wipe your opponent’s Bench as well as their Active Pokémon. The downside is that this version simply doesn’t hit the Active Pokémon as hard, but you can work around that to be able to get the weaker Pokémon on the Bench.
Best Strategy To Win With A Pikachu ex Deck
Hitting Fast & Hard
This deck’s biggest weakness is that Electric-type Pokémon will not survive as long as some of the other types. Even in a Water-type match-up where Electric attacks have the advantage, the right move can wipe out nearly all of them in one go. This is why you must be fairly aggressive and work fast and hard to clear the area.

Pokémon TCG Pocket: How To Get The Secret Celebi Emblem
While not the easiest to complete, collecting four cards to finish a themed collection unlocks the hidden Celebi emblem in Pokémon TCG Pocket.
This is where the new Pikachu can work out well, as they can hit your opponent early. Dedenne can also help slow things down, as if the Paralyzed trait lasts, the opposing player can keep their Pokémon from hitting you. Zapdos ex can also help in the early game, as it can hit on the first turn you have Energy and can retreat when needed.
This deck will struggle against decks with high HP. This is where you might need to improvise and do some juggling. However, if you can get the right cards out early and you are able to whittle down the HP of your opponent before they can evolve their line, you will be able to come out on top. It’ll be a close call with some decks, but you can come out on top with the right combos.
The biggest problem you will want to look out for is Fighting-type decks like Golem. Not only do those Pokémon often have the highest HP, but they will also have the 20-point advantage over you. You will have to tread those games carefully, but in all other regards, you should at least have the chance to take them down before they can get to full speed in Pokémon TCG Pocket.
