Marvel's Secret Wars RPG Announced Ahead Of Avengers: Doomsday

Marvel Multiverse Role-Playing Game is receiving a Secret Wars expansion, and it’ll be launching between two of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s most thrilling upcoming movies. Indeed, with Spider-Man: Brand New Day releasing in July and Avengers: Doomsday releasing in December, as well as a new Marvel Multiverse Role-Playing Game expansion, players have every reason in the world to be invested in Marvel’s tabletop RPG this summer.

As per Marvel, Avengers: Doomsday will follow this Marvel RPG’s newest expansion, and its timing couldn’t be better (or more convenient). Though we don’t quite have a reliable bead on the story in Avengers: Doomsday yet, the Marvel Multiverse Role-Playing Game: Secret Wars expansion seems to be an attempt at pursuing MCU synergy, including God Emperor Doom’s rule.

Marvel’s Secret Wars Is Coming To Marvel RPG

To anyone who might not be familiar with it, the essential selling point of Marvel Multiverse Role-Playing Game is simple: Dungeons & Dragons, but Marvel. Secret Wars, then, will be Marvel Multiverse Role-Playing Game’s adaptation of the eponymous comic book storyline. This includes the multiversal patchwork planet Battleworld, as well as “an exploration of the Fantastic Four, the Negative Zone, the Guardians of the Galaxy and the vast Marvel cosmos.”

While this may not seem directly inspired by the MCU or the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday movie, it’s peculiar that Marvel Multiverse Role-Playing Game would launch a Secret Wars expansion so near to the MCU’s debut of Doctor Doom. In fact, for all fans know, Avengers: Doomsday could also be the MCU’s introduction of a loosely adapted Battleworld, if rumors swirling about interconnected continuities and nostalgic character cameos are to be believed.

This Expansion Lands In Time For Doomsday

Marvel Multiverse Role-Playing Game players can get their hands on the Secret Wars expansion when it launches this August. That means Marvel fans will have already been treated to whatever wall-crawling shenanigans Peter Parker gets up to in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, and will then be highly anticipating one of Marvel’s most profound cinematic moments in Avengers: Doomsday during the 2026 holiday season.

There’s no need to wait until this summer to play Marvel Multiverse Role-Playing Game, however. Marvel Multiverse Role-Playing Game has plenty of expansions and content already, featuring stunning Marvel artwork in its core rulebook alone.

Further, a quick-start guide is available, with free character sheets available to download right now on Marvel’s official website. As the website states: “All you need is the book, three six-sided dice, and a group of friends.”

Marvel Multiverse Role-Playing Game: Secret Wars launches on August 18, 2026.
