Kayvan Novak, Bonita Friedericy, and Jon Pointing have all joined the upcoming Peacock comedy series “Dig” in recurring roles.
The series, which is based on the Kate Myers book “Excavations,” was originally announced back in May 2025 at the NBCUniversal streamer. Per the official logline, the show is “centered on four women working at an archeological dig in Greece who are at wildly different crossroads in their lives. When the team uncovers a long-buried secret with the potential to rewrite history, they find themselves at the center of a high-stakes international conspiracy.”
The three new additions join previously announced stars Amy Poehler, Hugh Laurie, Geraldine Viswanathan, Antonia Thomas, and Fina Strazza.
Novak will play Stavros, described as “a true romantic and the mayor of the small Greek village that houses the dig.” Friedericy will play Dorothy, said to be “the site’s jack-of-all-trades cook, office manager, and nurse. She’s been there forever and has seen it all.” Pointing will play Gary, “the site manager at the dig and Clare’s (Thomas) fiancé. He’s eternally pleasant and gets along with everyone.”
Novak is best known for his role as Nandor the Relentless in the FX mockumentary series “What We Do in the Shadows.” That show wrapped up its six-season run at the basic cabler in 2024. Novak is also known for his BAFTA-winning role in the series “Fonejacker” as well as shows like “Archer” and films such as “Cruella” and “Paddington.”
He is repped by Artists First.
Friedericy previously starred as Gen. Diane Beckman in the popular NBC spy dramedy “Chuck.” She is a prolific character actress who has appeared in shows like “The Pitt,” “CSI,” “The West Wing,” “Chicago Med,” “How to Get Away With Murder,” and “Parks and Recreation.”
She is repped by Trademark Talent.
Pointing has recently starred in shows including “Run Away,” “Queenie,” “Sweetpea,” and “Murder is Easy.” He is best known for his roles in the comedy shows “Plebs” and “Big Boys,” the latter of which earned him a BAFTA nomination.
He is repped by CAA and Conway van Gelder Grant
