Jessica Simpson and Eric Johnson Break Up After 10 Years of Marriage
Jessica Simpson is thinking about her children as she navigates a tough time in her personal life.
The “Public Affair” singer recently shared that she and Eric Johnson have broken up after 10 years of marriage—and her focus moving forward is their children, Maxwell, 12, Ace, 11, and Birdie, 5.
"Our children come first, and we are focusing on what is best for them,” Jessica shared in a Jan. 13 statement to E! News. “We are grateful for all of the love and support that has been coming our way, and appreciate privacy right now as we work through this as a family."
The 44-year-old confirmed of the couple’s split, “Eric and I have been living separately navigating a painful situation in our marriage.”
While Jessica and Eric—who have been facing breakup speculation since last year—remained low-key in recent months about the status of their relationship, the designer has publicly praised her three children on social media.
In September, the “Sweetest Love” singer celebrated their first day of school with a sweet message.
“Maxwell, Ace and Birdie y’all make your Mom bean with smiles and grace,” she wrote next to the pic of her smiling with her kids. “Keep on showin’ up for yourselves with each step of the way through this new school year! I’m so very proud of y’all for individually shining your light so that in return others feel the glow.”

Ahead of the couple’s split, the “With You” singer previously revealed that she would be interested giving the world a closer look at her home life.
"As far as I would go with that would probably be a docu-series, which Newlyweds was supposed to be," Jessica—who starred alongside her ex-husband Nick Lachey in MTV reality series Newlyweds—told E! News in August 2023. "But, we actually had a lot of fun doing it. A docu-series or a documentary, I think they wouldn't mind being on camera. My son maybe not so much. Both daughters, definitely entertainers, but my son is an entertainer on the [football] field I will say."
