Halo 2 Remake Confirmed In New Teaser

While the exact future of the Halo franchise remains somewhat up in the air after Xbox's latest exclusivity marketing, if there's one thing for sure, it's that fans can almost certainly expect more remakes at some point. With the early-access release of Halo: Campaign Evolved already off to a successful start, introducing a new generation of players to the franchise, many fans have already started speculating what entry will get the ground-up remake treatment after Combat Evolved.

Although there have been plenty of arguments that fan-favorite titles like Halo: Reach should be on the chopping block next to bring their visuals and gameplay up to modern standards, the original Halo: Combat Evolved's successor, Halo 2, not only seems far more likely, but may have already been confirmed in a recent official teaser.

Rather than being leaked online or posted by the developers themselves, players like GamersPrey on YouTube who complete Halo: Campaign Evolved on Legendary difficulty have been treated to an exclusive cutscene that sees Sgt. Johnson relaxing on a beach before directly teasing us with a potential Halo 2 remake, saying, "Well, that's my cue. See you in the sequel," after which the screen cuts to black.

While this could simply be a cheeky way of teasing players to keep playing through the series on their own, the scene is entirely new to Campaign Evolved, leading many to believe it's an indirect way of confirming another remake will be coming, this time with the direct sequel of Halo 2.

Adding even more fuel to the fire is the heavily meta context of the scene itself, as the scene starts with Sgt. Johnson watching a clip from the original Legendary difficulty ending of Halo: Combat Evolved on a data pad, before tossing it aside and saying "those were the days," which feels far too obvious as a commentary on the series to be a simple in-character joke.

While we still have no official confirmation that any more remakes specifically are currently in development, Halo Studios has already confirmed several new projects in the Halo franchise are in development, with rumors circulating that some of these projects could even be remakes for both Halo 2 and Halo 3, which would finally bring the classic trilogy to PlayStation in addition to its new graphics engine.

Even if it feels a bit early to look forward to the third entry right after the release of Halo: Campaign Evolved, the lessons learned from the most recent outing could be utilized to further enhance the beloved Halo 2 experience with a remake.

Combining that fans already widely consider Halo 2 to be one of, if not the best game in the series, and the latest teaser is anything, it's more of a question of when another Halo remake will release, rather than if.
