The release of GTA VI was always going to be subject to a lot of speculation. It's set to be one of the biggest games of all time and anticipation is significant, so fans are desperate for it to finally release on the currently scheduled date of November 19, 2026.
To date, the game has already been delayed twice by Rockstar, and by extension, parent company Take-Two Interactive, and they'll want to start earning some money back on their enormous investment. The production costs are estimated to have run well beyond $1 billion, and there's only so long a company can tank that before needing to get something back.
With all of that in mind, the game's community is constantly looking for clues that they're finally going to stick to the current date, and a new release has them quite excited that they actually will.
What Does The Marvel's Wolverine Release Date Mean For GTA 6?
If you missed it, Rocksteady Games announced a specific release date for their highly anticipated hero beat-em-up Wolverine, with that game set to arrive as a PS5 exclusive on September 15, 2026.
Over on Reddit, one fan shared a post stating that this reassures them about GTA VI's release date, given how closely Rockstar is working with Sony, and how little they would want two of their biggest games of the year to clash.
The comments were filled with fans sharing their own positive indicators, and to be fair, they create quite a compelling tapestry.
"I think the bigger indicator for a release this year is, that the green light has been given for the millions for marketing. They won’t waste their money only to delay the game again and pay millions more for a second marketing campaign," one comment read.
Others were considerably less convinced, with one saying, "This means nothing. Even for the last release date GTA VI had, games were trying to avoid that date. This is a nothing report."
GTA 6 Fans Are Still Terrified Of Further Delays
The fact that fans are looking at the release dates of other games to reassure themselves about the arrival of the big one is a sign on its own that they are terrified of further delays.
As a small bit of comfort, a third delay to GTA VI would be unprecedented for Rockstar (Red Dead Redemption 2) was delayed twice before finally releasing to universal acclaim). If they were to push it again, it would be very unpopular with Take-Two shareholders, and they'll likely want to avoid that for obvious reasons.
