It's been nearly five years since Hallmark viewers bid farewell to the fictional town of Middleton with the finale of The Good Witch. After seven movies and seven seasons, the wholesome fantastical comedy-drama ended its lengthy run as one of the channel's go-to comfort watches on a bittersweet, yet groundbreaking note, with Zoey (Kyana Teresa) and Joy (Katherine Barrell) getting their happily ever after and sealing the first same-sex kiss in Hallmark history, and the Merriwick cousins finding a way to preserve their powers. Since then, though, no series has quite filled the void left behind by the kind-hearted Cassie Nightengale (Catherine Bell). According to Bell and her on-screen daughter and husband, Bailee Madison and James Denton, there may be a little more magic and good vibes left to share.

During a panel moderated by Collider's Maggie Lovitt at MegaCon Orlando, the trio was asked if there's anything from fans that could get The Good Witch back on Hallmark. Given how long the series had been building a following, kicking off with the original 2008 film and then the series premiere in 2015, there's still a following eager for more of the positive, witchy fun that the series provides. Cassie's magical journeys felt like they could be just about endless, from first opening her shop, Bell, Book, & Candle, to help townsfolk with her curiosities, to starting a family and unraveling the mysteries of her relatives, all while dealing with the threats she faces from those suspicious of her witchcraft. As it turns out, the cast was ahead of the curve and has already gotten the ball rolling.

"Funny you should ask," both Bell and Denton chimed in excitedly. "I've been hinting at it, but there is..." the star said before Denton interrupted to add, "We've been begging." Madison further clarified that, "It'd be a yes from all of us" to a revival of the series, bringing the old residents back to Middleton once again. After a round of applause, Denton went further into detail, saying that audience enthusiasm, like that of the crowd in Orlando, is a big reason why they're aiming to revisit the franchise and that this has been a years-long effort that is finally starting to gain serious momentum.

"Thank you for that, we really… We don't want to do it if people don’t want to see it, so I love that reaction because we've been trying to get it done for years, and it hasn't been the actors. There's too many production companies because of the movies and the series, and actually, there was a meeting today with a few people, and there's movement, so, yeah, keep your eyes open."

Denton also confirmed that meetings were underway as recently as this week, indicating that the conversations about bringing The Good Witch back are very active and happening in real time.

Who Could Possibly Return for More of 'The Good Witch'?

At this time, it's too early to know what witchy premise The Good Witch could return with or who else will be involved aside from Bell, Madison, and Denton. From what the latter said, though, the goal appears to be to get back to the roots of what made the series such a consistent success for Hallmark. A reboot of some sort with Bailee involved would remedy an issue that arose after Season 5, when the actress departed the series as a regular cast member, meaning there could be a greater focus on the mother-daughter dynamic again if the band gets back together. Barrell, Teresa, Sarah Power, Catherine Disher, Kylee Evans, Marc Bendavid, and Scott Cavalheiro were also on board during the show's final season. It's also hard to imagine the series continuing without some of the original creatives involved in some way, like Craig Pryce, who helmed all seven movies and helped develop the show, or showrunner Sue Tenney.

Stay tuned here at Collider for more on the return of The Good Witch as the push for a comeback continues. In the meantime, all episodes of the show are available to stream through Hallmark with a subscription or for free right now using Tubi.
