Mon Cala
Star Wars’ Mon Cala is an oceanic planet, home to the Mon Calamari and Quarren, that could be a phenomenal map for a Star Wars: Galactic Racer track. This could take inspiration from Star Wars: Racer Revenge’s Orotoru G’am course and perhaps feature beautiful underwater segments where the track has players race through coral reefs and kelp forests.
Appearing in Star Wars: The Clone Wars, it would be neat to either see the state of Dac as it is in Star Wars: Galactic Racer sequel era setting, or see it as it was during the Clone Wars if the map had players travel to the prequel trilogy era for the sake of a more familiar nostalgia.
Hoth
Star Wars’ Hoth, like Kamino, is one-note as far as Star Wars planets are concerned. However, this inhospitable, snow-blanketed landscape is also home to one of Star Wars’ best battles, from Star Wars: Episode 5 - The Empire Strikes Back.
A racetrack on Hoth could be a blinding punch of nostalgia, having players drift beneath the ruins of a toppled AT-AT or narrowly navigate claustrophobic Echo Base hangars and corridors. Plus, it would be neat to see distant tauntauns and wampas as racers speed by in a hazy gust of wind.
Coruscant (And/Or Nar Shaddaa)
Star Wars’ Coruscant and Nar Shaddaa are two sides of the same ecumenopolis coin: the former being a glistening and sprawling city planet, home to the Jedi Order and the Senate during the Republic Era, and the latter being key to the criminal underworld as the neon-drenched moon of the planet Nal Hutta.
Either location would be superb as a map in Star Wars: Galactic Racer, though it might be unrealistic to anticipate both making it into the game due to their inherent similarities. Still, they both afford vistas that would make for excellent racetracks, especially with Star Wars: Galactic Racer's uptick in graphical fidelity.
Dathomir
Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, and Ahsoka all paint a harrowing and fascinating portrait of Star Wars’ Dathomir as a mystical, blood-red planet. It is easily one of the more distinct locales and biomes in Star Wars canon, and the lack of feasibility for an actual pod race circuit being held there could be hand-waved in order for it to be represented anyhow.
We don't yet know how much the environment a track is set in will affect players as they race against one another in Star Wars: Galactic Racer. However, if the environs and their hostile fauna can hypothetically swipe at players or otherwise deter them on the track, it would be fascinating to contend with Nightsister zombies and Nightbrothers leaping onto hovercrafts mid-race — Tatooine would also hopefully have this feature with Tusken Raiders attacking players, as well.
Scarif
Star Wars’ Scarif, appearing exclusively in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story and Star Wars Battlefront, is as visually gorgeous as it is narratively tragic. Its beauty as a tropical planet with shimmering bodies of water nestling into calming shores is juxtaposed with an oppressive Imperial occupation.
Scarif may not be the most elaborate track imaginable unless Star Wars: Galactic Racer took liberties with it, but simply skimming beach shores on a relatively simple course could be terrific, if only to give this special planet more representation from before it was annihilated by the Death Star’s single-reactor blast. More so, it would be exciting to see a racetrack installed there that could depict what little of the inhospitable planet is left in the aftermath of its devastation, if plausible.
Kashyyyk
Star Wars’ Kashyyyk is remarkably iconic, considering how few times it has actually appeared in Star Wars media. For example, Star Wars’ Wookiee homeworld has been featured in more video games than movies and TV, including Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, the Star Wars Battlefront series, The Force Unleashed, and Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, whereas it only appears in Star Wars: Episode 3 - Revenge of the Sith and The Bad Batch.
This would make it a shoo-in for another representation in video games, with a racetrack potentially having players ascend gargantuan canopies. It could even wind around the beach where one of the last battles of the Clone Wars took place, as it would be exhilarating to pass underneath platforms where Yoda, Wookiees, and clone troopers are engaged in a fight against the Separatist droid army.
Felucia
Star Wars’ Felucia is distinguished by its wild, vibrant, and translucent flora. Star Wars: Galactic Racer could surely use some color if two of its planets are virtually barren, brown deserts, and Felucia’s jungle rancors would make this set piece horrifying.
Felucia could be a sight to see all on its own. If Star Wars: Galactic Racer was interested in injecting it with nostalgia from when it was most notably featured, though, it could portray the Jedi’s defense of the planet during the Clone Wars.
Bracca
Star Wars’ Bracca is a scrapyard planet that first appeared in Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. The thrill, then, could be a racetrack that has players plunging into and spiraling around the husks of gigantic spacecraft that have been piled there and gutted.
This could be Star Wars: Galactic Racer’s opportunity to feature as many different ships from the prequel trilogy era as possible, condemning it as a graveyard for starships that have been decommissioned and salvaged. If Star Wars: Galactic Racer wanted to be particularly cheeky, it could have Jedi Padawan Cal Kestis make a cameo from when he was a poncho-wearing member of the Scrapper Guild.
Bespin
Star Wars’ Bespin is astonishing as a gas giant and an “astrophysical rarity,” and pedestaled by Cloud City, featured in both Star Wars: Episode 5 - The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi. It, along with Cloud City, is an ethereal marvel that would bestow onto Star Wars: Galactic Racer one of its most diverse maps.
A practical ‘track’ could make any hovercraft viable to race in the sky. But, it could also be spectacular for a Bespin-exclusive mode to feature players all racing in cloud cars without a physical course to follow.
Naboo
Star Wars’ Naboo is arguably one of the most enduring pieces of iconography from the prequel trilogy era, featured in the following Star Wars movies and TV shows:
-
Star Wars: Episode 1 - The Phantom Menace
-
Star Wars: Episode 2 - Attack of the Clones
-
Star Wars: Episode 3 - Revenge of the Sith
-
Star Wars: Episode 6 - Return of the Jedi (added later as an extra scene)
-
Star Wars: The Clone Wars
-
Andor: A Star Wars Story
-
Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi
Naboo's iconic status is thanks in no small part to its capital city, Theed. Its grand palace and breathtaking architecture would be a treat to race around, especially if a Theed track drew players back to the climactic battle during the Trade Federation’s invasion when the human colonists of Naboo and the Gungans joined forces in Star Wars: Episode 1 - The Phantom Menace. There's no shortage of great opportunities for Star Wars: Galactic Racer to take, but Naboo might be the very best.
