According to a new report by Nintendo Life, a group of select players may have access to a special pre-order bonus for The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake. As seen in the report, a selection of Micromania stores in France will hold a special Midnight Launch sale for the upcoming game, opening their doors for customers at midnight. Players who pre-ordered The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time at participating stores will gain a special replica of the Nintendo 64 box for the 1998 game.
The pre-orders for Zelda: Ocarina of Time have been available for some time, and the bonuses offered vary based on the region. However, this new pre-order bonus at Micromania stores is quite a delightful surprise, especially for fans of the original game. The Nintendo 64 replica box will be used to store the Nintendo Switch 2 game case. It replicates the regional PAL version of the Nintendo 64 box for the original Ocarina of Time, highlighting the logo in a gorgeous golden font.
According to Micromania’s own announcement, this is not an “exact reproduction” of the original Nintendo 64 box, but a tribute to the product. As seen in the report by Nintendo Life, EB Games Canada is also offering local players something similar: those who have made pre-orders will get a Nintendo 64-style slipcover for the Nintendo Switch 2 game. There’s a ton of hype around the game, so much so that Zelda: Ocarina of Time sold out in Brazil even before it was released, so these bonuses are not even a surprise.
It’s a simple and effective way of getting the attention of more players, especially those who are being fueled by nostalgia. The upcoming remake will be a faithful reinterpretation of the classic, though there are a few big changes being added. For example, some areas are being expanded upon, making the world map in Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake effectively larger.
The game intends to retell the classic journey of Link, which spans across multiple ages, as he ventures through Hyrule to save the world from the forces of Ganondorf. The remake’s new art style hasn’t pleased everyone, but there’s no denying there’s a ton of hype around the new version of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. We can't wait!
