Outside of Germany, Austria, and Switzerland, Paramount Pictures holds distribution rights for September 5th. Although Paramount initially planned to give the film a wide theatrical release on November 27, 2024, they pivoted to a limited release on December 13, 2024, with plans for a wide release starting January 17, 2025. September 5 premiered at the Venice Film Festival and based on that release, it has won several awards from the Sandiego Film Critics Society.
