Mackie now takes to Instagram to share new behind-the-scenes images from Twisted Metal season 2, showing off Doe in the upcoming batch of episodes. The carousel of five images features several of Mackie between takes wearing a thick winter coat embroidered with a distinctive spider logo, which is a nod to the game franchise. He appears in a rusty vehicle with a cigar in one image, while another shows him in character as Doe, looking over his shoulder. Mackie's caption also confirms that filmed on Twisted Metal season 2 has now wrapped. Check out his post below:

"That's a wrap on season 2 of Twisted Metal... what a ride!" he writes in his caption. He continues: "Glad I was able to stay warm! Thanks to the awesome team and crew that put this season together! Stay tuned, more to come!" Mackie ends his caption with: "John Doe rides again..."

What Mackie's BTS Post Means For Twisted Metal Season 2

When The Peacock Show Will Return

As of writing, Twisted Metal season 2 doesn't have an official release date. With filming now complete, the show is essentially guaranteed to return at some point in 2025. The post-producton work required, including editing and visual effects, means that the show wouldn't be able to return this year. The filming wrap does mean, however, that the first promotional images and trailer for season 2 could very well be released before 2024 concludes.

With the renewal of Twisted Metal, season 2 must ensure they answer questions about the season 1 characters and video game connections.

Mackie's post doesn't reveal too much about the story in the upcoming episodes, but the Twisted Metal season 1 ending suggests that a Twisted Metal tournament is imminent. Doe also seems likely to uncover more about his past in the new episodes. As for who will be joining Mackie in season 2, a number of Twisted Metal cast members from season 1 are likely to return, including Stephanie Beatriz as Quiet, Anthony Carrigan as Calypso, Samoa Joe as Sweet Tooth, Will Arnett as Sweet Tooth's voice performer, Thomas Haden Church as Agent Stone, and Mike Mitchell as Stu, among others.

Our Take On Mackie's Twisted Metal Season 2 Post

Mackie Was A Highlight Of Season 1

Sweet Tooth with fire hair in Twisted Metal season 1 finale

Mackie's post doesn't include any indication that Twisted Metal season 2 will be the final season. All 10 episodes of season 1 premiered in July 2023 and the renewal announcement didn't arrive until December, with Peacock evidently gathering months' worth of viewership data before making that decision. Though season 2 doesn't yet have a release date, it's likely that audiences will have to wait until several months after the premiere to know whether Twisted Metal season 3 is happening.

The Peacock show's debut outing was fun, though somewhat flawed, and it will be interesting to see where the story goes in season 2. Mackie himself and his portrayal of Doe is one of the show's biggest charms, and his evolution after the events of season 1 could make for an exciting change of pace. Many questions remain about Twisted Metal season 2, but the show is evidently one step closer to returning.
