With the new month of March came a must-watch collection of titles of different genres making their way across multiple streamers worldwide. Among these is one of the most intense survival thrillers of the 2010s, which already has a sequel in the works. The film, released in 2019, is a well-regarded, sleeper hit creature feature that successfully blends disaster elements with high-stakes survival horror. Now, almost seven years after its theatrical release, a major streaming platform has added it to this month’s lineup, making it available to a new set of audiences.
Starring Kaya Scodelario and Barry Pepper as a father-daughter duo, Crawl, described as one of the best killer alligator movies, became available on Paramount+ on March 1, 2026. It was directed by Alexandre Aja, who produced with Sam Raimi and Craig Flores, while Michael and Shawn Rasmussen served as screenwriters. The natural horror movie centers on Scodelario and Pepper as Haley and Dave Keller, who find themselves trapped, along with their dog, in the crawl space of their home and preyed upon by alligators during a Category 5 hurricane in Florida.

Upon Crawl’s release on July 12, 2019, it was a critical success, receiving generally positive reviews for its action, direction, pacing, and visual effects. It also boasts a Certified Fresh 84% on Rotten Tomatoes, with the critics’ consensus describing the film as "an action-packed creature feature that's fast, terrifying, and benefits greatly from a completely game Kaya Scodelario." The Paramount Pictures film was also a commercial success, grossing $91 million on a $13.5–15 million production budget.
Five years after Crawl’s release, Paramount greenlit a sequel in August 2024, though Aja previously shared in July 2019 that a potential sequel would focus on different characters in a new story. The sequel, reportedly titled Crawl 2, will see Aja return as director, while the script will be co-written by Andrew Deutschman and Jason Pagan. Cast updates are yet to be announced, but in the meantime, besides Scodelario and Pepper, the first Crawl movie starred Morfydd Clark, Ross Anderson, Jose Palma, Colin McFarlane, George Somner, Anson Boon, and Ami Metcalf.
