The Gentlemen, starring Theo James, returns for Season 2 sometime this year, but a premiere date has not yet been announced. In the meantime, fans can explore James' impressive filmography, which includes a highly underrated sci-fi gem that deserves way more appreciation and will soon be much easier to watch. Titled Archive, the film was directed by Gavin Rothery in his directorial debut and released in 2020 to favorable reviews. While it was originally set to premiere at South by Southwest in March 2020, that was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, leading the British movie to receive a digital release with limited theatrical screenings in the US later in July.
Netflix is scheduled to add Archive to its library on February 6, 2026, but it has only been confirmed for US subscribers. In the sci-fi movie, set in 2038, James portrays George Almore, a scientist who seeks to create a robotic copy of his late wife, Jules. Also starring are Stacy Martin, Rhona Mitra, Peter Ferdinando, Timea Maday Kinga, and Toby Jones. For those doubting the brilliance of this underrated gem, the critics' consensus on Rotten Tomatoes notes that Archive "executes its fairly basic program efficiently, offering sci-fi fans an engaging meditation on love and human nature." It also holds a 78% Tomatometer score.
'The Gentlemen' Season 2 Arrives Soon
Created by Guy Ritchie for Netflix, The Gentlemen premiered on March 7, 2024, and was renewed for a second season on August 14 of the same year. All 8 episodes of Season 1 saw James play Edward "Eddie" Horniman, the new Duke of Halstead, following his father's death, who inherits the family's sizable country estate — and the illegal weed farm located underneath it. James is expected to return in Season 2 alongside series favorites Kaya Scodelario and Daniel Ings. In addition, Ritchie is returning to direct and will co-write the series with Matthew Read.
Season 2 of The Gentlemen officially began filming on December 4, 2025, and as teased by Netflix, it is set one year after Eddie and Susie (Scodelario) joined forces to work together in Bobby's (Ray Winstone) criminal empire overseas. As they drive to expand their enterprise, the decisions Bobby is making seem increasingly unsound. Now Eddie and Susie must decide whether to take action or risk losing it all, but unfettered ambition never ends well.
Archive arrives on Netflix soon, while The Gentlemen returns for Season 2 this year. Stick with Collider for the latest update about the new season.
