Picture Tree Intl. has reported the first international sales on the Lucy Liu-led drama “Rosemead” as it screens at the European Film Market in Berlin, marking the kick-off of international sales on the acclaimed U.S. indie.
Directed by Eric Lin, “Rosemead” is on U.S. theatrical release with Vertical. The intimate psychological drama centers on a terminally ill mother who discovers her teenage son harbors violent impulses, forcing her into a desperate moral dilemma.
PTI has closed at EFM deals with AV-JET International Media Ltd. Co. for Taiwan and Silverline Multimedia Inc. for the Philippines, with negotiations ongoing for additional territories.
The film, which had its world premiere at the Tribeca Festival, has been widely praised by critics, with Deadline calling it “Lucy Liu’s best role in years,” while Variety described her performance as “career-redefining.” Next Best Picture highlighted it as “a highlight of her storied career.”
The film won the Audience Award at the Locarno Film Festival, where Liu was also honored with the Career Achievement Award.
PTI’s EFM slate also includes real-time thriller “Last Call,” and the Swiss box office hit “Hello Betty.” In addition, its slate includes several high-profile projects in post-production aiming for a launch this year, among them Sebastian McKinnon’s medieval fantasy epic “The Stolen Child” from Canada, the historical thriller “Butchers” (Matarifes) (Uruguay, Argentina, Spain) by Rafael and Bernardo Antonaccio, and the timely tech satire “Push the Button” from Sweden by Anton Källrot, and the company is also re-introducing Oliver Hirschbiegel’s iconic thriller “Das Experiment” to the international market with a 4K digitally restored version scheduled for delivery by mid-2026.
