Zucker and Clayton Krueger for Scott Free Productions, Alexandra Milchan for Emjag Productions, Guymon Casady (Entertainment 360), and Brooke Kennedy, alongside Cantwell and LaValle and Stevens. Karyn Kusama was also an executive producer, and directed the first two episodes.

PROGRAMMING

Roku is expanding its originals slate with a new sports-focused documentary franchise, launching the anthology series “Gamechangers” with its first installment, “Gamechangers: The Ashlyn Harris Story.”

The feature-length documentary will debut June 8 on The Roku Channel and centers on Ashlyn Harris, the two-time FIFA Women’s World Cup champion and former U.S. Women’s National Team goalkeeper.

The film traces Harris’ journey from her early life through her collegiate and professional soccer career, as well as her post-retirement advocacy work, including her outspoken support for LGBTQ rights and women’s sports. Through interviews with Harris, her family and former coaches, the documentary aims to provide a more personal, behind-the-scenes portrait of the athlete beyond her on-field accomplishments.

“I’ve spent a lifetime learning how to be strong for everyone else,” Harris said in a statement. “This is the first time I’ve let the world see what it actually cost me, but also what it gave me.”

“Gamechangers” is conceived as a three-part anthology spotlighting the evolving landscape of women’s sports, with each installment focusing on a different figure or story shaping the field both on and off the court or pitch. Additional projects in the series have yet to be announced.

The project is produced by Firefly Studios, with Sara Rea, Jane Lee, Cynthia Wade and Chet Fenster serving as executive producers. Roku Originals’ Sean Boyle and Louisa Lenander Friedman oversee the project for the platform.

TRAILERS

Prime Video has released the official trailer and set an April 22 premiere date for “Killing Grounds: The Gilgo Beach Murders,” a four-part docuseries exploring one of the most notorious unsolved serial killing cases in recent U.S. history.

Directed by Emma Cooper — whose previous credits include “Depp v Heard” and “The Mystery of Marilyn Monroe” — the series is produced by The Nacelle Company and Empress Films. All four episodes will premiere simultaneously on April 22 across more than 240 countries and territories.

The docuseries revisits the Gilgo Beach case, where “Gilgo Beach, New York, became the haunting site where 11 bodies were discovered, their deaths shrouded in mystery for years with no suspects identified. This chilling series unravels one of the most notorious criminal cases of our time, offering a comprehensive look at the investigation as new developments bring long-awaited answers closer into focus.”

Its release coincides with a major recent development: primary suspect Rex Heuermann has pleaded guilty to the murders of seven women and to causing the death of Karen Vergata. His admission marks a pivotal moment in the case, offering a measure of closure for victims’ families while underscoring the complexity of the investigation.

Executive producers include Brian Volk-Weiss, Matt Ochacher, Cisco Henson and Michael Pelmont for The Nacelle Company, with Cooper, Eben Davidson and Phil Donlon also serving as executive producers.
