The snubbed A-lister, drunken pics and C-List stars who plagued the most 'exclusive' party: All the Oscars gossip Hollywood didn't want you to see at very messy afterparty

It was an evening filled with the usual rictus grins and non-stop backslapping, but behind the scenes of the Oscars, Hollywood's tectonic plates appear to be shifting.

Jacob Elordi lost out on a Best Supporting Actor prize to Sean Penn. And afterwards Kate Hawley, who designed costumes for Elordi's movie Frankenstein, appeared to rub salt into the Australian actor's wounds.

She made no mention of the 28-year-old in a press-room interview discussing her own Oscar win, instead repeatedly praising director Guillermo del Toro in the three questions she was asked about working on the film.

An onlooker observed: 'It felt as if Jacob was snubbed - very few of the cast and crew mentioned him. [Kate] didn't mention Jacob once.'

If Elordi was enduring any sort of agony at losing a potential Oscar, Irishwoman Jessie Buckley's delight at being named Best Actress for her role in Hamnet was clear for all to see.

'My daughter got her first tooth this week,' she told journalists excitedly. 'I woke up with her lying on my chest, snuggling me.

'What a gift to get to explore motherhood through this incredible mother that Agnes is and was, and then to become one myself.'

Asked what message she would send to fans in her native Killarney, Buckley joked:  'Don't go to bed, keep partying! That's what I'm going to do.'

Anyone in Los Angeles keen to follow Buckley's advice was offered ample opportunity to soak up the booze at Vanity Fair's annual Oscars party.

The gilded event, held at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA), boasted fast food from In-N-Out and Domino's Pizza.

Elle Fanning was snapped posing with a burger that had a few bites taken out of it. 

The Predator: Badlands actress may have been one of the few outliers to openly enjoy carbs at the bash.

Many of the actresses seen on the red carpet - including Emma Stone and Demi Moore - appeared worryingly thin, amid rumors that Hollywood is in thrall to weight-loss drugs such as Ozempic and Mounjaro. 

Vanity Fair's annual afterparty instantly became one of the most coveted Oscar night invitations after it was dreamt up by the magazine's former editor, Graydon Carter, in 1994.

The storied magazine's new editor, Mark Guiducci, boasted of plans to make this year's event more exclusive, with a much smaller guest list.

Gorgeous candid photos shared by Vanity Fair on Monday indeed captured many of Hollywood's great and good looking ethereal while letting their hair down. 

But the truncated guest list did little to stop multiple badly-dressed C-Listers cockily strutting down its tasteful pewter carpet. 

British pop star Rita Ora was among them, posing for photographers in a bizarre black feathered hat. She has not enjoyed any major musical success since the late 2010s.

Oddball Julia Fox also managed to bag an invite, despite being best-known as the former girlfriend of Kanye West. 

She shocked onlookers in a garish cream dress featuring handle-style shoulders, while Fox's eyebrows had been bleached and her lips seemingly plumped to outrageous proportions. 

Model Heidi Klum - who has never been a serious actress and long ago retired from high fashion modeling - was also in attendance, in a matronly yellow gown.

Harvey Weinstein's ex-wife, Georgina Chapman, put on a brave face as she walked the carpet of the Vanity Fair event with boyfriend Adrian Brody, a double-Oscar winner.

Long gone are the days when A-List starlets would flock to wear gowns designed by Chapman's fashion house, Marchesa.

It continues to endure deep financial distress amid its indelible link to Weinstein himself, who is in prison for sexually assaulting multiple women. 

The star-studded event welcomed partygoers, including Usher, Jane Fonda, the Kardashians, Sir Mick Jagger and more big names, onto a red carpet displayed in front of 100ft-long, dazzling silver wall. 

Once inside, the copious amounts of booze helped relax the hordes of A-list guests, as tantalizing behind-the-scenes photos showed. 

Many guests changed out of the formal outfits that they donned for the award show, including Priyanka Chopra Jonas, who opted for a late-night party feel full of shimmer, fur, and a stunning gown with an exposed back. 

Kylie Jenner, who attended the Oscars with her actor boyfriend Timothee Chalamet, also slipped out of her plunging red sequin dress and into a black gown with a cut-out on her hip. 

Jenner was seen hugging one of her best friends, Bella Hadid, who donned a white two-piece gown during the celebration. 

It is not known if Jenner made any comment on the supposed 'Kardashian curse' some Chalamet fans fear may be tanking the self-confident young actor's career 

Rolling Stones lead singer Sir Mick was seen dancing with singer John Batiste, who delivered a surprise performance for guests at the bash. 

Other than Kylie, her model sister Kendall Jenner also shared snaps of herself heading out the door for the event, donning a baby blue gown with sequin detailing. 

Kris Jenner and Kim Kardashian made an appearance, with Kris wearing a black dress with silver dangly earrings, and her daughter wearing a gold bodycon dress. 

Heated Rivalry stars Connor Storrie and Hudson Williams attended the afterparty, with both of them opting for dramatic sheer tops, black pants, and shiny black shoes. 

Another cheeky snap showed Olivia Rodrigo having a ball with a group of people, including actress Iris Apatow and record producer Daniel Nigro. 

Jordan, who won the top acting prize for his role in Sinners, changed out of his dashing gray suit and into a brown ensemble that he paired with rose-colored sunglasses. 

The actor, 39, was seen smiling widely as he proudly held onto his first Oscar while embracing Ethan Hawke. 

Buckley showed off her iconic gold Oscar trophy at the party as she stunned in a sparkly black gown.  

Another picture showed Teyana Taylor and Jacob Elordi chatting at the party, while Usher and his wife Jennifer Raymond shared a laugh while speaking with others. 

Sarah Pidgeon and Paul Anthony Kelly, who play Carolyn Bessette and John F Kennedy Jr in the new hit Hulu series Love Story, posed together in snaps at the party. 

Pidgeon donned a simple silver dress while Anthony wore a velvet suit and tinted sunglasses.  

Robert Pattinson was seen in a picture with his longtime actress and singer girlfriend, Suki Waterhouse. 

Recently divorced Nicole Kidman posed for a picture with Mark Guiducci, the global editor of Vanity Fair and host of the afterparty. 

Other than the afterparty, celebrities also posed for pictures inside the Dolby Theatre during the award ceremony. 

Zendaya was seen with her thumbs up as she stood beside Pattinson, with whom she presented an award during the show. 

Leonardo DiCaprio was seen with his arm around Jordan after the Sinner's star won his Oscar. 

An emotional snap captured Buckley embracing Paul Mescal during the show. 

The show itself featured a mix of well-deserved wins, shock snubs, emotional tributes, and ruthless jokes dished out by comedian Conan O'Brien, who returned as the host for the second consecutive year.

The most emotional moment of the night took place when Rob Reiner's inner circle united on stage, paying tribute to the late director and his wife Michelle Reiner following their sudden deaths in December. 

Leading the tribute, which preceded the 2026 Oscars' In Memoriam segment, was Reiner's longtime friend Billy Crystal.

Crystal, who starred in Reiner's iconic romantic comedy When Harry Met Sally, delivered a somber but loving speech about his friend.

At the conclusion of the segment, a bevy of A-list stars who had appeared in Reiner's films over the years joined forces on stage and linked hands as they remembered their fallen pal.

The stars paying tribute to Reiner included This Is Spinal Tap stars Michael McKean and Christopher Guest, Stand By Me actors Jerry O'Connell and Wil Wheaton, and The Princess Bride's Fred Savage, Cary Elwes, Mandy Patinkin and Carol Kane.

Crystal, who was featured in The Princess Bride, was joined in the center by his When Harry Met Sally costar, Meg Ryan.

The three-hour ceremony was also filled with plenty of awkward A-list actions both on and off the stage. 

Barbra Streisand teared up before bursting into song during her emotional tribute to the late Robert Redford during the ceremony, while the members of Kpop Demon Hunters were cut off mid-speech. 

Chalamet was also the punching bag of the night after O'Brien called him out over his 'opera and ballet' jab controversy in front of his Hollywood peers.

Just before the show, the actor declared that 'no one cares' about ballet and opera, sparking a massive mountain of criticism. 

'Security is extremely tight tonight. I'm just going to mention that,' tuxedo-clad O'Brien said to the crowd. 'I'm told there's a concern about attacks from both the opera and ballet communities,' he added.
