Jeff Dodge (he/him), a published author and graduate of Western Washington University, has been a TV news editor for many years and has had the chance to interview multiple reality show stars, including Randy Jackson, Nick Cannon, Heidi Klum, Mel B and John Cena. Fun Fact: he’s been to every single Idol Live! Tour.

The Mandalorian and Grogu hasn't even been released yet, but the movie is already finding success on the streaming charts.

The Testaments and Star Wars: Maul — Shadow Lord are currently in the top two spots, with Daredevil: Born Again, Malcolm in the Middle: Life's Still Unfair, Perfect Crown, Chernobyl: Inside the Meltdown, High Potential, Secrets of the Bees and Dear Killer Nannies rounding out the Top 10.

The docuseries is performing very well in several countries around the world, including in Albania, Australia, Belgium, Bulgaria, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Croatia, Denmark, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Guatemala, Honduras, Hungary, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Nigaragua, Panama, Poland, Romania, Slovenia and Sweden, where it's No. 3 on the Disney+ streaming chart.

Viewership for Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu — A Special Look is even higher in the United States, Czech Republic, Japan Slovakia and Spain, where it's at No. 2.

Each episode of Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu — A Special Look, titled "A Special Look," "Creaturette," "Grogu Joins the Conversation" and "Larger Than Life," runs anywhere from two to four minutes in length and gives fans a sneak peek and shows behind-the-scenes footage of what to expect from the film.

Even though it's not the actual movie, a docuseries that's only 10 minutes long has proven to be popular with Disney+ subscribers, enough to see it sitting alongside full-length series like The Testaments, Star Wars: Maul and Daredevil on the streaming charts.

This special look isn't the only move Disney has been making lately to promote The Mandalorian and Grogu. On May the 4th, which is Star Wars Day, the first 25 minutes of the film were shown in theaters.

The Mandalorian and Grogu, a spinoff film of the Disney+ series The Mandalorian that continues the adventures of the titular characters on the big screen, is projected to gross $80 million on opening weekend.

If that number holds, it would set a new box office low for the Star Wars franchise that's currently held by Solo: A Star Wars Story, which was also released on Memorial Day weekend in 2018.

After appearing on The Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett, Pedro Pascal is back as the bounty hunter Din Djarin in The Mandalorian and Grogu, where he'll be joined by co-stars Jeremy Allen White, Sigourney Weaver and Martin Scorsese. Jon Favreau, who created The Mandalorian, directed the film and co-wrote the script with Dave Filoni and Noah Kloor.

This is the first Star Wars film to be released since 2019's Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. After The Mandalorian and Grogu is released, Disney will follow that up with the Shawn Levy-directed Star Wars: Starfighter in May 2027.

The Mandalorian and Grogu will be released in theaters on Friday, May 22, 2026.
