‘The Housemaid 2’: “We Start Shooting In The Fall” Says Paul Feig – Oscars Red Carpet

Housemaid lovers, don’t fret, you’ll get your sequel soon.

Paul Feig told Antonia Blyth on the Oscras red carpet that the script is in, he’s doing a rewrite and “we start shooting in the fall.”

Based on the second novel in Freida McFadden’s novel series, The Housemaid’s Secret sees Sydney Sweeney’s Millie Calloway, the housemaid with a troubled past, uncovering a deadly scheme plotted by her employer, Wendy Garrick, who manipulates events to frame Millie for murder.

Feig said that Sweeney is coming back along with Italian actor, Michelle Morrone, who also starred in the director’s Another Simple Favor. The Housemaid was a big Christmas hit for Lionsgate, grossing close to $395M at the global box office.

In addition, Feig spoke to Blyth about the Melissa McCarthy food poisoning scene was cracked in Bridesmaids (which he reminded was nominated for two Oscars including original screenplay and Best Supporting Actress McCarthy), in addition to his recent comment on our review of Reminders of Him.

Wrote Feig on our review: “Dude, this is a really out of touch review. Are you in the target audience? Does every movie you see have to get a 14-minute standing ovation in Cannes? This movie is made for romance fans and I’m predicting it’s going to do very well. These audiences are underserved and have to sit at home to watch most romances and rom-coms on streaming these days, and now they’re getting a theatrical experience they can share with their friends and others. I was at the premiere of this and the audience there ate it up. Huge cheers when the two leads first kissed. Lots of sniffles and tears at the end. Huge applause for the film. If this isn’t a genre you like then so be it or if you had issues with it then so be it too. But to take such a huge steaming sh*t on a movie that clearly wasn’t made for you is the absolute height of snobbery, I hate to say.”
