The truth behind the Converse sneaker Hugh Jackman recently used to do a shoey has been revealed - and all is not as it seems.
Hugh, 57, and his Deadpool and Wolverine co-star Ryan Reynolds, 49, recently appeared to fully embrace an iconic Australian tradition by doing a shoey on the set of their latest series.
Hugh and Ryan, who are teaming up for a new Disney+ docuseries, were seen drinking from a green high-top Converse sneaker during an on-set break.
In footage shared to Hugh's Instagram page, the pair were seen cheerfully pouring a beer into the shoe and then quickly sculling it as cast and crew cheered them on.
However, a recent photo shared to Ryan's page showed him and Hugh proudly showcasing the underside of the shoe to fans.
People quickly noticed the shoe was miniature-sized and emblazoned with a Deadpool and Wolverine logo, revealing that it was not genuine footwear but rather a custom-made item.

Fans quickly took to the comments section to voice their surprise at Hugh's act.
'Not a real shoe,' one person sniped.
'A custom pair to do a shoey,' a second wrote, and a third chimed in with: 'That's not real!'
Another person called the act 'un-Australian.'
Despite using a custom design, the pair still looked to be having great fun, with Hugh cheerfully yelling out 'Yeah!' upon finishing and patting his stomach as he handed the shoe to his mate Ryan, so the Canadian-born actor could also give it a try.
Ryan flexed his muscles and then necked the beer from the shoe as an impressed Hugh looked on, with the pair cheerfully hugging each other after finishing the Aussie ritual.
However, in a shock moment, a tipsy-looking Ryan fell to his knees upon letting go of Hugh, to uproarious laughter as he quickly stood up.
'Drink responsibly,' Hugh then cheekily told the crowd, as he joined them in a chant of Aussie, Aussie, Aussie, Oi, Oi, Oi!
Hugh captioned the clip with some excited words: 'I would say it's been a good 35 years since my last shoey!!!'

Is drinking from a shoe a fun tradition or just plain gross—where do you draw the line on set rituals?
On Sunday, it was revealed that Hugh and Ryan are taking their blockbuster partnership from the big screen to the high seas with a new Disney+ docuseries.
The upcoming series will take viewers behind the scenes of the high-octane SailGP Championship, offering unprecedented access to one of the world's most successful sailing teams as they battle for glory on the international stage.
Produced by Ryan's Maximum Effort banner alongside Eureka Productions, in partnership with SailGP and the Flying Roos, the series will stream exclusively on Disney+ internationally.
In a joint statement, the A-listers couldn't resist taking a playful swipe at their latest collaboration.
'This is our first collaboration since Deadpool and Wolverine and we once again anticipate action, comedy, heart... but with a lot more water,' they said.
'And (fingers crossed) pirates. We hope there's pirates in SailGP.'
The adrenaline-fuelled championship sees national teams race identical 50-foot foiling catamarans capable of reaching speeds of up to 100km/h at spectacular waterfront venues around the globe.
