Sutton Foster 'fearful' of Hugh Jackman's close relationship with Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively

Hugh Jackman's ongoing friendship with Ryan Reynolds is reportedly causing friction in his relationship with girlfriend Sutton Foster.

The Marvel star, 57, has reportedly been asked by Foster, 51, to distance himself from Reynolds and wife Blake Lively, and her high-profile career dramas.

'Sutton and Blake don't get on, and combined with the fact that Blake's recent legal issues have affected Ryan's career, Sutton's right to be fearful of Hugh hanging out with Ryan,' an insider tells this week's Woman's Day magazine.

They added that while Foster appreciated Jackman supporting Reynolds and Lively during her drawn-out legal battle with It Ends With Us director Justin Baldoni, she had now decided that enough was enough.

However, they said Jackman wasn't even considering ending his friendship, as he had known Reynolds for years and they had been through so much together.

'Hugh's not having any of it, of course. He's always been a loyal friend and has seen so many of his close mates go through hell – he's always stood by them. Ryan's one of them,' they said. 

'He knows Ryan's not doing so well and wants to help him get through this, no matter who it upsets.'

It was reported that Foster may not be happy with this development, given that she had never been Lively's friend and had been unable to bond with her.

'When it comes to Blake's one-on-one with Sutton, they've never had a deep and meaningful friendship,' an insider told the publication last year.

Adding to the tension, Jackman has been unable to sell his $40 million New York City penthouse, with it remaining on the market since March. 

The Wolverine star first listed the sprawling five-bedroom apartment for $40m in March, less than a year after his divorce from his former wife Deborra–Lee Furness was finalised.

Jackman and Furness, 70, bought the palatial property for $33m in 2008, which adjusted for inflation sits at over $40m today - meaning the actor is now hoping to make a substantial profit of several million dollars on the apartment.

However, the property has proved more difficult to shift than expected.

The former couple initially attempted to sell the apartment in June 2022 for a whopping $54.2m – more than $14m above its current asking price – but withdrew it from the market just two months later.

They subsequently took a different approach and listed the property for rent in September 2023 for an eye-watering $174,000 a month, around the same time they announced their separation.
