Beverley Callard has revealed she's in 'limbo' after suffering a 'nightmare' setback amid her breast cancer battle.

The Coronation Street star, 69, was diagnosed earlier this year and has been open with her followers during her recovery and treatment plan.

However, in her latest updates this weekend, Beverley admitted that she's 'at a loss' of what to do as her medication was denied following the discovery that 'part of her stomach has eroded away'.

In the first of her two videos shared to Instagram, the Liz McDonald actress initially told her fans of her stomach issues following the visit to her hospital's oncology department.

As she sat in her car, she shared: 'Just come out of St. Vincent's oncology, I’ve seen professor Janice Walsh again, who is just fantastic... she's very glamorous, very dynamic and superb at her job.

'Still not got all the results of my stomach scan yet but apparently part of my stomach has eroded away and I’ve got to have two lots of antibiotics and then a stomach care protector tablet.

'Then she [Janice] thinks I’ll feel loads better. So just going to get that from the chemist now.'

The soap star then went on to share how she had bonded with other cancer sufferers in the waiting room, noting: 'Everyone’s going through it in different ways. It’s really lovely just to be able to chat and just support each other.'

Concluding her update, Beverley added: 'I got a letter to say that they want me to get some bone scans and an appointment will come soon. So that's it. Fingers crossed!'

However, just hours later, Beverley returned to Instagram with a 'big update', alarmingly captioning her post: '2 updates…so watch until the end!! Some not great news and some very sad news.'

The I'm A Celebrity star went on to say in her video that after being told that she would need medication for her stomach erosion, she encountered a 'nightmare' problem at the chemist when she went to pick up her prescription.

She said: 'Went to the hospital yesterday, as I've told you, and everything seemed to be moving along. Still not got the results from the biopsies of my stomach but apparently there's a lot of erosion in my stomach and chronic inflammation so the consultant has given me three medications.

'Two antibiotics and one that sort of protects the stomach. So I thought this would be good and she said you'll feel better because she said I don't look well! Which I know anyway. So I went straight to the chemist from the hospital and they said, I can't give you that.'

Beverley explained that the chemist informed her that the new medicine would 'interact with some of the medications you are already on'.

She added that the chemist went on to say that she would 'need to speak to oncology and get this cleared up, because you really can’t have these'.

However, the star encountered difficulty in doing so, informing her fans that 'trying to get back through to the hospital was a nightmare - just couldn't get through to the right person and explain everything!'

She continued: 'I'm a bit at a loss at the moment,' noting how both her chemist and GP had been trying to get through to the oncologist.'

A distraught Beverley added of her ordeal: 'I’m in limbo again, which is a nightmare.'

In another blow to the beloved TV star, Beverley also told how the adoption of a dog that she had fallen in love with had been cancelled.

Earlier in the week she had visited Dublin Dog Hub and had been enamoured by a pooch called Elvis, and had been hoping to bring him home with her.

But after his recent behaviour at the rescue centre, which included biting another dog and his handler, it was decided that it would be 'unsafe' to have Elvis at home with Beverley's two other dogs, Arthur and Elsie.

Having already purchased things for Elvis, as well as him being 'neutered and microchipped', a downcast Beverley said: 'We are so disappointed – really disappointed.'

Beverley had her last radiotherapy session back in July amid her breast cancer diagnosis.

The actress shared the fantastic news that she has now had all ten of her radiotherapy sessions as she said: 'I am thrilled.'

Addressing her fans she said: 'I've done it. I've just finished my last radiotherapy session. Fingers crossed.

'Yep, that was number 10 for me and lots of people have to have lots more I know that, but for now that's finished. So hopefully, I don't know for sure, but hopefully I won't need any more.'

Her husband Jon McEwan interjected: 'Positive thinking, darling', as she replied: 'That's it. I know positive thinking. Yes definitely.'

She continued: 'To be honest, I feel a bit numb because yesterday I really struggled, but today I've been fine and now I've got to see the professor again in two months, and then I'll know a lot more, and mammograms and oncologists and all that.

'But radiotherapy is finished for now, so I'm really thrilled. I'm not going to celebrate tonight. We're too tired. We can't be bothered.

'I'm going to put scruffy clothes on and just sit and watch TV with a cup of tea.'
