Sundance Film Festival Sets 2027 Dates For Boulder Debut

The Sundance Film Festival has set the 2027 dates for its first year in Boulder, CO: January 21–31.

Last March, Boulder won a bidding battle to become the new home of the Sundance Film Festival after myriad cities were in consideration — including its longtime haunt Park City. The Colorado city put $34 million in tax incentives on the table as part of a 10-year deal.

The optimism here for the new Sundance includes fresh theatrical venues, which were shrinking in Park City; potentially more affordable lodging accommodations for attendees; and ease of travel throughout the city during the festival. De rigueur in Park City was the Uber and Lyft bottleneck on Main Street, where several media photo/video studios were located, not to mention the sluggish WiFi in the ski resort town. Also providing optimism for the new fest location is the new audience and participation by students from the city’s University of Colorado; four of the fest venues revealed Tuesday are on he school’s campus.
