Steven Spielberg is, without question, one of the most talented and important directors in the history of filmmaking. One could even argue that he’s as good at his job as anyone has ever been at their profession. Dating back to Jaws in the 1970s, Spielberg has given the world countless hits, be they stand alone films like E.T. or franchise firecrackers like Jurassic Park and Indiana Jones. Spielberg will return to theaters later this year with his next sci-fi film, Disclosure Day, which stars Emily Blunt and Josh O’Connor. While he may have slowed down a bit as a director, Spielberg is heavily involved as a producer on some of the biggest projects in theaters and on streaming, and his latest producing effort is already taking the world by storm.

Spielberg is known in the eyes of many as the man who spearheaded the Jurassic Park franchise, which is still going strong 30 years later. His work bringing the prehistoric creatures to life is hard to forget, but he returned to a different corner of the Jurassic genre over the weekend with his new Netflix miniseries, The Dinosaurs. The documentary miniseries features four episodes, all narrated by the great Morgan Freeman, and it begins over 200 million years ago, looking at some of the oldest creatures to ever walk the face of the Earth. All four episodes of The Dinosaurs aired on Netflix over the weekend, and the series immediately rocketed to the #1 spot on global streaming charts. Spielberg’s power when it comes to managing dinosaurs can’t be denied. The show is the perfect binge for fans who love natural documentaries like Planet Earth.

What Else Is Streaming on Netflix Right Now?

The second-most popular show on Netflix right now is Bridgerton, which recently aired the final batch of episodes from its fourth season. The Night Agent, which has been hailed as Netflix’s answer to Reacher, has slipped out of the top five despite being renewed for a fourth season. The biggest hit movie on Netflix right now is War Machine, the new sci-fi action epic starring Alan Ritchson. The film has managed to hold the top spot despite the arrival of Russell Crowe’s Nuremberg, the audience-favorite WWII courtroom drama also starring Rami Malek and Michael Shannon.

Check out all episodes of The Dinosaurs on Netflix and stay tuned to Collider for more streaming updates and coverage of Spielberg’s future projects.
