EXCLUSIVE: Stephen Feder has joined Disney Live Action as SVP, Production.

Most recently at Megan Ellison’s Annapurna Pictures, where he was a founding member and held a first-look deal spanning film and television, Feder reports to Disney Live Action President Daria Cercek, who herself reports to David Greenbaum, President, Disney Live Action and 20th Century Studios.

Feder’s Disney Live Action counterparts are EVP, Production Jessica Virtue and SVP, Production Allison Erlikhman.

During his time at Annapurna, Feder oversaw production on Richard Linklater’s Everybody Wants Some!! and served as the company’s executive on Wong Kar-wai’s The Grandmaster and Harmony Korine’s Spring Breakers. His appointment at Disney comes as a homecoming of sorts, as he formerly served as VP of film development for Lucasfilm from 2016-2019, working on titles like Solo: A Star Wars Story, before heading to Rian Johnson and Ram Bergman’s T-Street as a producer. As part of a long-running producing partnership with Kiri Hart, which began during his time at Lucasfilm, he also helped to launch Hart’s label, Counterculture, Ltd., which debuted Vera Miao’s diaspora-themed horror film Rock Springs at Sundance this year.

A native of Chicago, Feder earned a master’s degree from the London School of Economics and an undergraduate degree from the University of Illinois.

News of Feder’s appointment comes amid a sweeping leadership reset at Disney, as Josh D’Amaro has taken the reins as CEO from Bob Iger and moved quickly to streamline the company’s structure. Dana Walden now serves as President and Chief Creative Officer overseeing film, television, streaming and gaming, with Debra OConnell elevating to Chairman of Disney Entertainment Television with expanded purview across ABC, Hulu Originals, Disney Branded Television and National Geographic, in addition to ABC News. Alan Bergman remains in place as Chairman but now reports into Walden.
