Known as 'Cyberpunk 2077's' biggest fan, Angharad is a Welsh games writer who thrives in anything related to digital storytelling. If a video game explores the intricacies and horrors of womanhood, she is there.

Thanks to previous work at GAMINGbible, GameByte, The Loadout, Game Luster, Angharad has built a strong understanding of both the digital world and what fans want from it and is eager to share her thoughts and expertise with readers.

First released back in 2010 and memorable for its shocking storyline and its equally shocking voice acting, this action-adventure game is now free to grab courtesy of Steam, and with it widely being regarded as one of the greatest video games of all time, this will be the perfect time to revisit, or maybe even try out for the first time to understand where that iconic meme actually originated.

The game in question has found itself the subject of multiple free downloads over the years. After all, it will be celebrating its 16th anniversary this year. So, if you want the excuse to try out a classic and see if it has aged well over the past decade, this will be the perfect opportunity to do so.

PC Gamers Can Grab A Classic Title Completely Free

After 16 years, Steam users will now be able to get their hands on Quantic Dream's Heavy Rain at absolutely no cost. First released back in 2010, Heavy Rain has become an iconic part of gaming history, mainly for the famous "Jason" scene, and now this is the perfect opportunity to replay a modern classic. Met with critical acclaim upon launch, Heavy Rain tells the story of the Origami Killer, a serial killer who uses rainfall to drown his victims. The game tells the story of four different protagonists, with their choices and actions directly influencing how the game plays out.

Back in February, Lenovo Gaming hosted a Heavy Rain giveaway, but thanks to limited keys, many potential players missed out on the opportunity. However, thanks to its popularity, a new giveaway is underway, and this time it comes courtesy of Steam, which offers thousands of users the chance to get their hands on a Heavy Rain key.

Kicking off on 15 April, 2026, at 9 am PT (12 pm ET), the Steam giveaway will be limited to 5,000 keys, and we can safely assume that they are going to disappear very soon, so be sure to head to Steam around the time that the giveaway starts. Additionally, as with every giveaway, conditions need to be met, including setting up accounts with the Legion Gaming Community and Gamesplanet. Luckily, GameRant has shared the steps you will need to take to be able to partake in the giveaway:

  • You must have an account on the Legion Gaming Community website
  • Your account must be connected to an unlimited Steam account (which means you've spent at least $5 on the account)
  • Join the Key Drop queue when the time comes
  • Once through the queue, you will have ten minutes to claim the free code
  • You must then redeem it through Lenovo's partner, Gamesplanet. After that, navigate to Steam

Has Heavy Rain Aged Well?

A man looks disturbed in Heavy Rain

Despite its popularity and becoming one of the best-selling games of all time on the PlayStation 3, many would say that Heavy Rain is quite outdated in 2026. It did receive a remastered version back in 2016 which featured 1080p graphics, improved lighting, shadows, and post-processing effects, as well as consistent 30fps, but Heavy Rain is yet to receive a remake or sequel of any kind. Sometimes you forget just how outdated it is until you boot up the game almost two decades on, but hey, I would not change some of those iconic failed Quick Time Events for anything.
