New RPGs that mix influences from highly popular games are a trend, and an upcoming release will do exactly that by blending Stardew Valley with Valheim. Especially on Steam, there are several different games that influences from the aforementioned titles. For example, a new mix between The Last of Us and Valheim is available to try out for free on Steam, and fans of titles like Project Zomboid may find a new home in it.

Now, a new release in a similar category has made its way onto Steam. Available on the gaming platform, Romestead is an upcoming city builder RPG that mixes elements of Stardew Valley with Valheim, and fans of either of those widely popular games will want to check it out. The full game does not yet have a release date, but you can check out a free demo on Steam.

Romestead Is Free To Try Now On Steam

The Demo is Quite Generous

By claiming and downloading the Romestead demo, you can play a portion of the game to get a better understanding of what the full product will feel like when it finally arrives. According to the developers at Beartwigs, as seen in the demo’s product page on Steam, the demo should give players access to a substantial amount of content. For example, the demo will already have support for up to eight players in coop.

Furthermore, the new free demo on Steam will also feature two biomes of progression, over 15 dungeons to explore, and a total of three bosses to face in battle. With the Romestead demo, you’ll get a grasp of what is possible to do in the city builder game with RPG elements. However, there will be a lot more to do once the complete version finally arrives – even if there isn’t a release date or release window teased for it just yet.

If You Like Stardew Valley & Valheim, Give This A Go

Romestead Also Has Heavy RPG Elements

Fans of Stardew Valley and Valheim will likely be delighted with Romestead. The new indie RPG is set in a fantasy-based world in which Rome has fallen. Your goal is to explore the world and help rebuild the once-glorious civilization. After the fall of the empire, you’ll establish a new settlement and choose one of many different jobs, like a Blacksmith, Leatherworker, or Farmstead.

In Romestead, you’ll then help expand your town, craft, and more, all while maintaining the happiness of your citizens. The scavenging and crafting aspect of this survival RPG is reminiscent of Valheim, while the pixel art style and the cozy factor are like those in Stardew Valley. There are also some extra RPG elements in Romestead, like leveling up skills, unlocking talents, and choosing appropriate gear.

Romestead seems like a very ambitious game, but it will be a while before we get to see what it fully has to offer. In the meantime, however, I do encourage you to check out the free demo for Romestead that is currently available on Steam and, hopefully, get this game on your radar.
