EXCLUSIVE: Just a year into its first-look film and television deal with Amazon MGM Studios, Premeditated Productions has inked a five-year extension, taking their deal with the studio through the summer of 2032.

Premeditated was co-founded and launched in 2024 as an extension of Entangled Publishing, the publisher founded by CEO Liz Pelletier, as Pelletier partnered with producer Sherryl Clark (The Gorge, Cloverfield), to develop projects for screens big and small, based on Entangled’s extensive book catalog.

The extension is a reflection of an uncommonly productive relationship between the two companies: since forging the deal, Premeditated has set up over a dozen projects at Amazon MGM, including feature adaptations of #1 New York Times bestsellers Shield of Sparrows, Dragon Cursed, and A Stage Set for Villains, along with rom-com 69 Million Things I Hate About You, and teen time-travel comedy Repeat After Me. Screenwriter Ian Levy’s thriller film pitch Survive is also in development at the studio with Premeditated producing.

Recent TV projects include #1 New York Times bestselling author Jennifer L. Armentrout’s paranormal fantasy series Lux and the upcoming Storm Breaker by Nisha J. Tuli. Additionally, Premeditated is producing Amazon MGM’s adaptation of #1 New York Times bestseller Rebecca Yarros’ Fourth Wing, published by Entangled, alongside Outlier Society and Kilter Films, which Meredith Averill has signed on to showrun. Premeditated also has New York Times bestselling author Liz Tomforde’s Windy City series, which has over 25.4 million reads, in development at the studio for television.

Beyond the production of film and television based on preexisting books, Premeditated is working with Amazon and Entangled to concurrently develop film and television projects based on forthcoming literary titles.

In a statement on the extension, Amazon MGM Studios’ Head of Global IP Acquisitions, Lauren O’Connor, told us, “Liz and Sherryl have built a remarkable pipeline of stories that blend creativity, innovation, vision, and a deep instinct for what resonates with audiences. Collaborating with the team at Premeditated Productions has been a true pleasure, and we’re thrilled to extend our partnership as they continue to bring Entangled’s incredible library and original ideas to life across film and television for global audiences.”

Pelletier told us, “One of the most exciting parts of this collaboration is what it means for the worlds our authors create. These stories were built to resonate globally, and Amazon MGM has the reach and commitment to help them do exactly that. We’re proud to bring our authors opportunities that extend far beyond the page while protecting the integrity of the stories that made them beloved in the first place.”

Added Pelletier’s partner, Clark, “From day one, Amazon MGM Studios has approached our slate with real ambition. There’s a shared commitment to building bold, commercial stories for a global audience. With Mike Hopkin’s leadership and strong alignment across film and television under Courtenay Valenti and Peter Friedlander, this partnership gives us the ability to think long-term and build enduring franchises with broad, commercial appeal.”

Outside of Amazon MGM Studios, Premeditated has set up film and television projects with Legendary Entertainment, MGM Television, NBCUniversal, and 20th Century Studios. Alongside co-founders Pelletier and Clark, the team includes SVP of TV Julie Jarmon, Director of Development Cayla Tyne, and Creative Executive Trip George.

Premeditated is repped by Independent Artist Group and Caitlin DiMotta at TroyGould PC.
