The second episode of Star Wars: Skeleton Crew has given the fastest alien in the galaxy its first live-action appearance in almost 40 years. Following the release of Return of the Jedi, the Star Wars franchise continued to explore the galaxy far, far away with spinoff properties, from the continued issues of Marvel’s Star Wars comics to the animated series Star Wars: Droids: The Adventures of R2-D2 and C-3PO and the live-action Ewoks movies. The Ewoks movies added fascinating lore to the Forest Moon of Endor, revealing new species, cultures, and even the first live-action Nightsister Witch of Dathomir.

The second film – Ewoks: The Battle for Endor – has Wickett the Ewok and the young human girl Cindel Towani fleeing Sanyassan marauders and the Nightsister Charal. The two befriend the human Noah Briqualon and the mischievous creature Teek, who shares the name of his species. The film, like all other Star Wars properties from the 1980s, is part of the Star Wars Legends continuity, which ceased to be the official canon in April 2014. While Teek himself has yet to gain a counterpart in the modern canon, his species has made several appearances in newer properties.

A Teek ferryman in Star Wars Skeleton Crew

Skeleton Crew episode 2 “Way, Way Out Past the Barrier” included a member of the Teek species in a brief and unexpected role, with a Teek serving as a ferryman on Port Borgo. Notably, this Teek demonstrated the signature ability of the Teek in their original Legends incarnations – sprinting away upon receiving his payment and moving so fast that he appeared to be a blur. In Battle for Endor, the humorous Teek constantly made use of this ability, often for comedic effect.

Skeleton Crew has premiered on Disney+ with its first two episodes, featuring some very exciting and fun Easter eggs and Star Wars references.

As the Legends continuity has shown numerous times throughout Endor’s many appearances, the Forest Moon is extremely hazardous. Endor is home to boar-wolves, condor dragons, rearing spiders, and the monstrous Gorax. Considering how dangerous Endor is, it is no surprise that sapient beings like Ewoks and the Teek have physical abilities that far exceed those of humans, with Ewoks possessing incredible strength and the Teek being able to run at blinding speeds.

The Ewok traps used against the Imperial military in Return of the Jedi are repurposed Gorax traps.

The Star Wars Legends continuity establishes that the Teek may be intrinsically the fastest sapient being in the galaxy. A Teek named Yeep participated in the Mobquet Presents: Fastest Land Beings race in 22 BBY, trouncing all other competitors with ease. In both the original continuity and the modern canon’s Star Wars: Skeleton Crew, no other beings are shown to be capable of moving as fast as the Teek without using the Force to enhance their speed, seemingly making the Teek the galaxy’s fastest species.
