Star Trek: Strange New Worlds executive producer and co-showrunner Henry Alonso Myers hints that one question surrounding Lieutenant Spock (Ethan Peck) since season 1 will finally be answered. Star Trek: Strange New Worlds is in post-production on its fifth and final season after wrapping filming just before Christmas 2025.

Paramount+ ordered Star Trek: Strange New Worlds seasons 4 and 5, which filmed practically back-to-back in 2025. Star Trek: Strange New Worlds season 4 is expected to premiere in 2026, most likely in the summer, like the first three seasons. Star Trek: Strange New Worlds season 5 should follow in 2027, after Star Trek: Starfleet Academy season 2 premieres.

TrekMovie's Anthony Pascale caught up with Henry Alonso Myers and talked all things Star Trek: Strange New Worlds at the 53rd annual Saturn Awards. TrekMovie brought up Sybok, Spock's older brother who was last seen in Star Trek: Strange New Worlds season 1. Myers teased that Sybok will still be part of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds. Read Henry's quote below:

Henry Alonso Myers: “There’s a future with Sybok where we deal with Sybok, I’m going to say that. You have some future with Sybok to experience on the show.”

Sybok (who was only seen from behind with no actor credited) made a surprise cameo at the end of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds season 1, episode 7, "The Serene Squall," in 2022. Sybok was revealed to be imprisoned in the Ankeshtan K'Til Vulcan Criminal Rehabilitation Center, and Spock's former fiancée, T'Pring (Gia Sandhu), is his jailer.

Sybok was portrayed by Lawrence Luckinbill and debuted in 1989's Star Trek V: The Final Frontier. A Vulcan heretic who embraces his emotions, Sybok highjacked the USS Enterprise-A on a mad quest to find the God (George Murdock) on the fabled world of Sha Ka Ree.

Sybok in Strange New Worlds

The inclusion of Sybok in Star Trek: Strange New Worlds was unexpected, as was his new backstory, where he is married to a space pirate named Captain Angel (Jesse James Keitel) and operates under the false name, Xaverius. However, there has been no mention of Sybok since Star Trek: Strange New Worlds season 1.

Henry Alonso Myers' tease that Star Trek: Strange New Worlds season 4 or 5 will deal with their Sybok open question may be linked to a curious photo of Ethan Peck as a long-haired and bearded Spock from Star Trek: Strange New Worlds' final season. Spock looks suspiciously Sybok-like, but what this means isn't clear.

ScreenRant's John Orquiola asked Star Trek: Strange New Worlds' co-showrunners Akiva Goldsman and Henry Alonso Myers about Sybok at Comic-Con 2024, but Myers demurred and promised, "To be continued..." It's good to know that Sybok is still in play at some point during the upcoming 2 seasons and 16 episodes of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds.
