Beyoncé’s Nephew Julez Smith Details Sweet Bond with Cousin Rumi Carter
Solange’s son Daniel “Julez” Smith Jr. is shining a light on the tough part of fame.
In a recent livestream, the 21-year-old was asked, “What’s the hardest part about being you?” to which he replied, “Misconceptions.”
Further clarifying his exact sentiments, Julez—who Solange shares with her ex-husband Daniel Smith—added, “People think I’m gay.”
"Look, you know, like, the first time I ever heard of myself in the media was I was in seventh grade, and my mom posted this picture of me," he shared. "I was dressed as LL Cool J. I had like this red jumpsuit, I was 13 at the time. Mind you, I had a girlfriend at the time. I went to school and my girlfriend showed me a picture that my mom posted."
"This is grown ass adults who was calling me gay at what 13,” Julez added. “Cause they was saying I’m pretty, I’m a pretty boy.”
Julez noted that he’s no stranger to the public making assumptions about his life, but has been open about the positivity he wants to put in the world with his professional endeavors.
Indeed the model previously shared the legacy he wants to leave behind.
“Hopefully I inspire some people to start modeling,” he said in an interview with Pause in June 2025. “That inspiration to me is probably number one. Just inspire people to get fly and know that young men can do the same thing as the OGS in the game. They can come in, take over and put their foot in the game.”

“I want to share my impact and my swag with other people,” he added. “I think that’s the biggest thing for me and leaving a mark for future kids and making my family proud.”
And Julez is doing just that as his grandmother Tina Knowles couldn’t help but dote over her grandson after he walked the runway during the Blue Marble Fashion Presentation at Paris Fashion Week.
In a BTS clip from the show shared that same month, Tina told the camera, “We were at the Blue Marble show to watch this handsome young man walk the runway.”
Grateful for her grandmother’s support, Julez added, “Thank y’all for coming. Thank y’all for the support. I love y’all.”
“I love you, too,” Tina replied, noting, “Go have fun.”
