Sharon Stone cut an elegant figure as she headed out in New York on Tuesday to attend a party.

The actress, 68, looked effortlessly stylish in a brown midi dress and satin trench coat for the Audemars Piguet x Vogue event.

Sharon complemented her autumnal look with red velvet heels, a brown clutch and silver necklace.

The party was held to launch the highly anticipated Royal Oak Serena Williams limited edition watch.

The outing was the first time Sharon has been seen since she made the surprising admission that she has been celibate 'for quite a while'.

The actress said on Mayim Bialik's Breakdown podcast she has stopped pursuing casual relationships because she now wants a companion rather than someone whose only purpose is for sex.

The Basic Instinct star also admitted that she doesn't believe she has ever found the great love of her life, despite being married twice.

She said: 'I'm a really good girlfriend, but I haven't been a girlfriend in a long time.

'And I've been a girlfriend to bad boyfriends. And I've been a girlfriend to good boyfriends. I've had good luck and bad luck and no luck at all. And for quite a long time, I've had no luck at all.'

She continued: 'I've been celibate for quite a while now because I'm at the point where I really only want to be with someone that I care for.

'And now that my kids are grown, I want someone that's my companion, not just someone to have sex with. I'm kind of bored with that.'

Stone, who is the mother to adopted sons Roan, 26; Laird, 21; and Quinn, 20, said she believes accepting a period of being alone is necessary if she is to eventually find the relationship she wants.

Asked whether she had ever experienced the great love of her life, the Hollywood star replied: 'I have had loves in my life, but I don't think I've had the great love of my life, no.'

She recalled visiting a psychic at the age of 23 who had also worked with the late singer Tina Turner.

Stone claimed the woman accurately predicted her future global fame – before warning that finding lasting love would prove considerably more difficult.

According to Stone, the psychic told her: 'You're not going to meet your person until you're quite old, quite a bit older.

'And then they're going to be like you. In a way, you're going to identify with them. But it won't be until you're really quite a bit older, almost 70.'

The star has been married twice, first to television producer Michael Greenburg and later to journalist Phil Bronstein, from whom she divorced in 2004.
