Scarlett Johansson will be stepping into a new role, that of morning talk host, when she will join Jenna Bush Hager as co-host of the fourth hour of Today later this month.
Today with Jenna & Friends is the newly named show, following the departure of Hoda Kotb on Friday. Kotb, who co-hosts Today earlier in the morning, announced last year that she was stepping down. The network announced that a series of co-hosts would join Hager for the time being in the fourth hour.
Johansson ‘s husband, Colin Jost, is co-anchor of the Weekend Update segment on NBC‘s Saturday Night Live. She will co-host Jan. 21-24. That Monday, the show will be preempted for the inauguration of Donald Trump.
Taraji P. Henson, Keke Palmer and Eva Longoria will co-host the Today hour next week.
Kotb has co-anchored the original Today with Savannah Guthrie since 2018. She will be succeeded in the first two hours of the show by Craig Melvin.
