Romeo Beckham's queer tennis romance film shares new look at his character in promotional image ahead of his acting debut in Forty Love

Romeo Beckham fans have been given another glimpse at the character he is set to play in the queer tennis romance film where he will make his acting debut.

The son of David and Victoria Beckham, 24, can be seen on court with a shaved head wearing a black tank top, on the other side of the net to his co-star Paul Kircher.

French actor Paul, also 24, stars as Sacha Gallo, a 21-year-old rising star who has been coached by his father since childhood.

They have a shared dream of winning his first title, but he is threatened by Romeo's character – a 'charismatic new rival' who enters Sacha's world.

Sacha, who is wearing a white vest top and headband, looks intensely over at his competitor, who is staring dead ahead as they walk off the court.

The photo was shared by Studio Canal and the caption read: 'A new look at Forty Love. A film by Pierre-Ange Carlotti, starring Paul Kircher, Guillaume Canet, Romeo Beckham - making his on-screen debut - Benjamin Voisin, and Catherine Deneuve.

While Romeo's character's name has not yet been revealed, it has been confirmed he will be speaking in both English and French throughout the film.

The film is set to hit French cinemas on November 25 before its international release. 

A description for the film reads: 'For the first time, [Sacha] faces an opponent of an entirely different nature — love. A force as exhilarating as it is destabilizing — and far more dangerous than anything he has encountered on the court.'

It is directed by fashion photographer Pierre-Ange Carlotti, produced by Hugo Selignac's Chi-Fou-Mi Productions and co-produced by Studiocanal.

The first look image, which was released in June, showed the nepo-baby intensely gazing at Paul with his neck tattoos and two earrings on display. 

The film is described as having 'a rare tenderness, melancholy and strength'. 

Hugo added it is 'sensual, romantic and deeply moving fable and coming-of-age story' about the 'demands of high-level sport, and everything that lies beneath the surface… led by outstanding performances'. 

Chloe Marquet, head of international sales at Studiocanal, said: 'Carlotti's singular visual language gives the film a real edge, while its exploration of desire, competition and identity will resonate with audiences worldwide.' 

Romeo's career has thus far comprised modelling and football. 

He has been modelling for several years for the biggest luxury brands including Yves Saint Laurent and Balenciaga, while being a long-time Burberry muse.

In October 2024, the then 22-year-old made his debut at Demna's spring/summer 2025 Balenciaga show in Paris. Then came a surprise cameo at Milan Fashion Week the following season, where he walked the Versace autumn/winter 2025 runway.

The film marks a surprising career move for Romeo, having enjoyed stints in football, tennis and modelling.

But he is not the first famous child star to move into acting, with Maya Hawke (daughter of Ethan Hawke and Uma Thurman) and Lily Collins (daughter of Phil Collins) both going on to reach huge success on their own. 

Despite his nepo baby label and an estimated net worth of $5 million, Romeo appears determined to carve out a name for himself beyond the Beckham brand.

He has been described as a 'grafter', who is keen to 'let his work speak for itself'.

A source told The Sun: 'Romeo has long been in demand for film and TV roles, but he made sure to do the work before putting his name to anything.'

They continued: 'This film will show people what Romeo can do. He is an impressive actor and this is a great starting point for him. Romeo is a grafter.'
