Only Fools star Sir David Jason was pictured at Belfast airport on Friday ahead of his stage show – as the beloved sitcom celebrates its 45th anniversary.

The Del Boy actor, 86, is set to perform at Waterfront Hall this weekend and made a casual arrival to the city.

He is currently on tour with his live stage show An Evening with Sir David Jason which sees him reflect on his career and share nostalgic stories from his decades in acting.

A post from Belfast City Airport's Instagram account showing the star after he arrived in Northern Ireland read: 'This afternoon's arrival was, quite simply, lovely jubbly!

'We were delighted to welcome the legendary Sir David Jason to the heart of Belfast ahead of his performance at the Waterfront Hall this weekend.'

It comes as unseen Only Fools And Horses footage from the iconic Jolly Boys' outing episode was unearthed and released to celebrate the sitcom's 45th anniversary last month.

It was a coach trip down to Margate over 20 million fans of the show will remember fondly.

For the 1989 Christmas special episode, Del Boy, Rodney, Uncle Albert and the rest of the Nag's Head regulars headed down to the seaside town, only for the trip to descend into Trotter chaos when their bus blows up.

Ahead of the clips being released, Sir David said: 'I've really enjoyed seeing it all.

'A lot of bits of film that have never been seen before by anyone, except those who recorded it, so it's coming out fresh.'

The four-time winning BAFTA actor added: 'I think the audience will find this very exciting.'

Unearthed footage released by the TV channel, U&Gold, shows Del Boy and Micky Pearce, played by Patrick Murray, filming a funfair scene while another shot shows Buster Merryfield playing the much-loved Uncle Albert on the annual coach trip.

It comes after the release of previously hidden images to announce the documentary, Only Fools And Horses: The Lost Archive, a two-part series launching in October.

This is the first time fans have been shown footage from the vault.

The upcoming documentary will also feature interviews with cast members including Sir David, Tessa Peake Jones, Gwyneth Strong, Sue Holderness, Steven Woodcock and Denis Lill.

The footage features a mix of old, unseen scenes, studio rushes, newly discovered outtakes, and location recordings.

The show's scriptwriter, John Sullivan, died in 2011 aged 64 after having viral pneumonia for six weeks.

After his death, Nicholas Lyndhurst, who played Del Boy's brother, Rodney, said there would never be any new episodes of Only Fools And Horses because: 'John was the driving force.

'We've also lost quite a few of the cast members now, [so] I don't think I could do it…

'I certainly couldn't do it without John.'
