Netflix's returning action K-drama will seemingly combine elements from both Ninja Assassin and Rocky, which makes it incredibly exciting.

A wide range of Korean shows have premiered on Netflix in the last few years. Squid Game remains the most popular addition to the streaming service's catalog, but several other K-dramas of myriad genres are worth watching on Netflix. Among them, one combines the thrills of combat sports with the chills of criminal storytelling.

After performing fairly well in season 1, the action-packed K-drama in question is also set to return soon, and, from the looks of it, it will be even more promising this time around.

Ninja Assassin’s Rain (Jung Ji-hoon) Is The Main Villain In Bloodhounds Season 2

Bloodhounds is one of the most popular action K-dramas on Netflix right now, ranking somewhere up there with shows like Weak Hero. Although Bloodhounds season 1 slightly fizzled out towards the end after showing immense potential in its early moments, it performed well enough to be renewed for another season. In season 2, however, it looks like the series is leaving no stone unturned.

Check out its season 2 trailer below:

As the above trailer confirms, Bloodhounds season 2 will not only feature more pulse-pounding boxing training sequences and sanctioned bouts in the ring like Rocky, but also introduce a whole new villain. The new antagonist will be portrayed by K-pop star Rain (Jung Ji-hoon), who is also known for playing the main character in 2009's Ninja Assassin.

Rain looks exactly like his Ninja Assassin character, Raizo, in Bloodhounds season 2 trailer, but dons a more intense and intimidating look. It would be fascinating to see his showdowns against the Netflix Korean show's main characters and how he will display his well-rounded martial arts skills against their boxing mastery.

Due to the untimely passing of Kim Sae-ron, who played Cha Hyeon-ju in Bloodhounds season 1, the show's season 2 will miss one crucial cast member who made the first installment incredible. However, as its trailer establishes, Bloodhounds season 2 still promises to be a worthy extension of its predecessor.

Bloodhounds Season 2 Has The Perfect Opportunity To Make Up For Its Predecessor’s Mistakes

Unlike Weak Hero, which only seems to get better with each new installment, Bloodhounds struggled to sustain its quality throughout its runtime. Arguably, up till episode 6, the show was firing out all cylinders with its portrayal of two boxers' battle against ruthless loan sharks. However, its final stretch felt relatively disjointed and rushed, which significantly diminished its overall quality.

Despite this, it is hard not to look back at the show's season 1 and remember it as one of the better TV additions to Netflix's action catalog.

With season 2, it looks like the show's creators are effectively raising the stakes by rising beyond the loan sharks plot and focusing on a more brutal underground boxing tournament. Even the main characters, Gun-woo (Woo Do-hwan) and Woo-jin (Lee Sang-yi), will now have a different dynamic where Woo-jin will coach Gun-woo and help him rise further in the world of boxing.

Bloodhounds season 2 is scheduled to be released on Netflix on April 3, 2026.

As the head of the illegal gambling ring around the boxing tournament, Rain's Baek-jeong will work within the combat sport's systems to take the two main characters down. This, in turn, will effectively pave the way for more slam-bang action sequences both inside and outside the ring.

While delving deeper into the original Webtoon's narrative, the new season of the Netflix K-drama will reportedly be seven episodes long. This will seemingly ensure that its storytelling will remain taut and feel far more evenly paced than its predecessor.

Hopefully, like Weak Hero Class 2, Bloodhounds 2 will also prove to be a worthy successor to the orginal Netflix action K-drama.
