Although Marvel Studios has postponed Blade's MCU introduction and Moon Knight's return for years, Marc Spector and Eric Brooks finally please fans with a team-up appearance. Despite the massive critical and fan acclaim for Oscar Isaac’s performance in 2022's Moon Knight, Marc Spector and Steven Grant have remained frustratingly absent from the MCU for four years. Since the first season concluded, there has been no official word on a second season or a theatrical crossover.

This absence is part of a broader trend. Jack Russell, Elsa Bloodstone, and Dane Whitman are only a few of the supernatural characters introduced in the Multiverse Saga and seemingly left behind by the franchise. Most notably, Mahershala Ali's Blade movie continues to be in development hell even though the actor joined the MCU an astounding seven years ago.

On the bright side, Moon Knight and Blade are crossing paths this year in a different medium.

Moon Knight Teams Up With Blade In July 2026

Marc Spector and Blade wield their weapons in Moon Knight cover preview

A preview for Jed MacKay's Marc Spector: Moon Knight #3, set for release on April 22, confirms the return of Moon Knight archnemesis Bushman, who comes back to torment Marc Spector. Additionally, Marvel reveals the official cover for Moon Knight #6, which features Marc Spector and Eric Brooks a.k.a. Blade showing off their weapons together (via AIPT). Marc joined forces with the underrated Layla El-Faouly a.k.a. the Scarlet Scarab recently, but it's nice to see him shake things up.

Moon Knight has undergone a radical transformation under the steady hand of writer Jed MacKay. Following the high-stakes Age of Khonshu and Fist of Khonshu runs, the moon-themed vigilante entered a bold new chapter in Marc Spector: Moon Knight. This run marks the definitive return of Spector to the physical realm, though his homecoming has been anything but peaceful.

Now trapped in a complex labyrinth, Moon Knight must navigate a gauntlet of classic foes like Bushman alongside the return of the chaotic Zodiac. This claustrophobic psychological thriller explores whether Marc can truly piece his broken identities back together or if his recent brush with death has permanently severed his connection to the moon god Khonshu. Luckily for Marc Spector, Moon Knight will receive help from a fellow supernatural Marvel icon, who may be even more experienced facing occult threats than himself.

Marvel's Midnight Sons Are An Underrated Superhero Team

Moon Knight & Blade's Team-Up Is A Reminder Of The Midnight Son's Long Overdue

While the Avengers command the spotlight with their cosmic skirmishes and the X-Men fight their oppressors for survival, the Midnight Sons tackle the grime of Marvel’s spiritual underbelly. Marvel's occult specialists manage a vital but frequently neglected corner of the Marvel Universe mythos, with a darker, more visceral brand of heroism. Blade's pragmatic views and Moon Knight's unpredictable psyche make them a duo as compelling as Captain America and Iron Man within the Avengers. Sadly, the Midnight Sons aren't as prominent as Earth's Mightiest Heroes, and Moon Knight doesn't team up with Blade as often, either.

4 Years Later, Marvel Sets The Stage For The MCU's Most Wasted Hero To Return

Although we're still waiting for a second season, Marvel continues to make the case for one of the MCU's most wasted heroes (and their epic potential)

The Marvel Cinematic Universe has struggled to assemble its own group of supernatural heroes. Despite the introduction of heavy hitters like Doctor Strange, Werewolf by Night, Elsa Bloodstone, Man-Thing, Black Knight, and Moon Knight himself, none of them has formally teamed up with the others. Hopefully, the MCU makes room for the Midnight Sons' formation in the next saga, and Blade and Moon Knight's 2026 team-up in Marc Spector: Moon Knight #6 is a hint to the start of the team's prominence in live-action.

Meanwhile, a modern comic book revival of the Midnight Sons could assemble a roster that blends classic mystical staples with fresh, high-octane blood. Beyond regulars like Ghost Rider and Doctor Strange, a contemporary lineup would benefit immensely from the inclusion of Magik, Nico Minoru, Scarlet Witch, and newcomers like Henrietta Benjamin, Calico, and Deathdream from The Uncanny X-Men. Among all Midnight Sons alumni, there are no better leaders for a new iteration of the team than the seasoned Moon Knight and Blade.

Marc Spector: Moon Knight #3 is available from Marvel Comics on April 22, 2026.
