Red Dead Redemption 2 Free DLC Leaves Gamers Pleasantly Surprised

Since its launch back in 2018, Red Dead Redemption 2 has been on quite a journey. Despite being considered one of the greatest games of all time, it has also suffered from a lack of content, with Rockstar Games rapidly turning its attention to Grand Theft Auto VI not long after its launch. Despite also featuring an online component, Red Dead Online, it has not received the same love and attention as Grand Theft Auto Online, leaving fans feeling disheartened.

However, occasionally, Rockstar remembers that Red Dead Online exists and releases brand-new or returning content to the online multiplayer title. This month is one such example, with the Red Dead Redemption 2 mode welcoming a batch of new freebies.

Red Dead Redemption 2's Online Mode Drops New Content

As part of the Moonshiner quest line in Red Dead Online, Rockstar Games is giving players the chance to bag themselves triple rewards, a community-inspired outfit, returning limited-time clothing, 3X RDO$ and XP. Running throughout the entirety of March and into April, the event will see you rewarded for completing Moonshiner sales. For example, successfully completing one sale will earn you the green Torbay Vest, whilst reaching Rank 20 will see you rewarded with the brown Ortega Vest. Additionally, freeing up smuggling routes by destroying Revenue Agent Blockade this month will get you the white Cossack Hat.

There are also weekly rewards to earn if you want to show off your fashion choices in the Wild West. They are as follows:

March 3 – 9: Complete “Blood Is Thicker Than ‘Shine” Moonshine Story Mission to receive the tan Porter Jacket
March 10 – 16: Complete three Daily Challenges to receive the black Salter Shoes
March 17 – 23: Moonshiners can log in to receive the green Churchwell Vest
March 24 – 30: Rank up five times as a Moonshiner or Reach Moonshiner Rank 20 to receive the Slow Clap Emote

Red Dead Redemption 2 Have Been Begging For New Content

As mentioned, Red Dead Online has become something of the forgotten child when it comes to Rockstar's various franchises. However, although the Moonshiner event has left players feeling pleasantly surprised, the majority are still calling out for the extra content they deserve. "It's been almost eight years," one Twitter user commented. "Drop a 60fps patch for RDR2 on PS5. Is it that hard? I love you guys and I love your games, but come on." Another added, "No meaningful RDR2 update, no GTA 6 news."

Whilst Rockstar puts the finishing touches to Grand Theft Auto VI ahead of its launch this November, hopefully it will then turn its attention back to the Red Dead franchise, and Red Dead Online specifically.
