There are quite a few PlayStation 5 games that you can play for free without a PS Plus subscription, but one of the latest additions to this ever-growing category is an open-world RPG that's getting a ton of buzz. As we continue seeing free downloads available to all PlayStation users, it's somewhat rare to find a game that has good quality and seems to capture an audience.

Neverness To Everness

Neverness to Everness, or NTE, is a new open-world RPG that arrived on PS5 at the end of last month. It has an anime aesthetic and character roster that might make it seem like other free RPGs like Genshin Impact or Wuthering Waves, but it has the urban sprawl of Zenless Zone Zero. The futuristic city of Hethereau may also appeal to fans of open-world games like Cyberpunk 2077.

NTE is a hack and slash action RPG with various in-game currencies and items needed for upgrading characters. While that formula may be familiar in an era when gacha games are massively popular, Neverness To Everness has set itself a part thanks to its quality and blending of genres, and fans of the game are already singing its praises, with one user saying, "I can't believe it's free!"

Graphics have been another impressive factor for NTE's early success. "They clearly haven’t cheaped out on the little details," reads the translated post from Video Game Details (which you can view above. "Stuff like the blossom leaves floating through the air as the train passes by is exactly the kind of thing I love seeing."

"This game has soul," reads one of the comments. "There are so many small details I notice where I'm blown away."

It seems that players can't get enough of NTE, and the fact that it's free is just a nice bonus. One user described the game as "Genshin Impact meets GTA," which seems like a winning combo to me. Neverness To Everness is currently available on PlayStation 5, Android, iOS, and PC.
