The film's official synopsis details the bond formed between Naz and Ingle, calling it an "unlikely and tender" one:
With his unorthodox style, cocky persona, and sheer dominance of the sport, Naseem faced down the abhorrent racism and islamophobia that swept Britain in the 80's and 90's, to become a global sporting icon, both inside and outside of the ring. The film explores the unlikely and tender relationship between Naz and his trainer, Ingle, a steel industry worker who ran a humble boxing gym in a church hall in the North of England, and the instrumental role that Ingle played in Naz's road to success. With exhilarating and visceral scenes in the ring, coupled with deeply moving and intimate moments behind the curtain, GIANT is an inspiring biopic of one of the greatest showmen the sporting world has ever seen – the untold true story of the boy behind The Prince.
The first look sees the pair's relationship, from their initial meeting and the duo's playful banter, to Ingle's support of Naz, and the tough love he gives him along the way, chronicling his WBO featherweight title win in 1995, where he defeated Steve Robinson, and his fight against Kevin Kelley at Madison Square Garden. The biopic also ages Brosnan over the course of the film in perhaps one of his most shocking transformations yet, taking the James Bond actor from a sprightly, middle-aged boxing trainer to Naz's white-haired confidant, all while having his back, in and outside of the ring.
Directed and written by Rowan Athale, the film also stars Kahterine Dow Blyton, Ali Saleh, Ghaith Saleh, and Toby Stephens. Rocky's own Sylvester Stallone is also credited in the film, serving as one of Giant's executive producers.
While the film was originally released in the U.K. to audiences on January 8, in just a few weeks, Giant will be available to a whole new swath of viewers, who will get the chance to learn about Naz's true story.
Giant premieres in select theaters and on VOD May 22, 2026.
